Glad I wasn't alone on the earthy note. I did a comparison to the Lagavulin 11 Offerman and was surprised how that earthy note came out compared to the Lagavulin (which I think is a bit earthy already).

Great addition to the peated space keeping the Glendronach profile intact. More balanced and more rounded than the Balvenie Peat Week which is a subtler version

Yo Eric, Have you tried the Glendronach "Traditionally Peated" ? It's at 48% and has the extra character you miss in the "Peated". I spent an evening with the two of them and I loved them both. As per usual a Great review and I really don't have much use for any more PX in my whisky than just a bit .....if that. Glendronach got it right.

I've not had the Glendronach "Traditionally Peated" and have never seen it but I'll keep an eye out for it.

This was my fav whisky for a long time until, for some reason, the province of BC (I’m from Vancouver) stopped importing this completely. Can’t find it anywhere anymore, I don’t think it’s even for sale anywhere in Canada. I assumed Glendronach stopped producing it as it was always “sold out” on the distillery website for the longest time too. I guess not. Always enjoyed it when I had a bottle.

Glendronach replaced the “Peated” with the “Traditionally Peated” about a year or so ago. You might still be able to find a bottle of the Peated though collecting dust somewhere.

Erik, there is also a traditionally peated version on the market from glendronach.. do you know the difference between that one and this one?

Glendronach Peated or Lagavulin 16? WOW, that is tough. Lagavulin has more oceanic character so it would depend on my mood. Definitely Glendronach Peated over Caol Ila 12.

I have this one but have not cracked it open yet as I have many open bottles and finding some that are over 1 year open are noticeably flat! I see you have quite the collection there yourself. Are you gassing all your open bottles? If so do you start gassing after a couple of months open or lets say after the bottle gets below 1/2 ? I'm trying to see if I should start gassing or not. Thanks for another great review!.......Slainte'

Nope. Not gassing. I have bottles pf gas for wine but from what others have reported gassing isn't necessary and it can diminish a peated whisky. Some of the shorts reviews have been of bottles open for 2+ years and they've been fine.

Hmm interesting. Same score as the Scotch Test Dummies and almost exact same notes as well as tone of the video. May have to get this one now. Found 1 last one at $72
