@RealtyPro72 жыл бұрын
@@the404error7 That’s something almost no one ever seems to think about or say! The 1911 and basic iconic revolvers have been virtually the same for over a century, not just a few decades. Some designs just work and are also easy to customize for different people and needs. Plus they are available in so many calibers plus conversion kits to allow one gun to fire several calibers with a few seconds to swap. I was a bit of a Glock hater when they first came out because I didn’t shoot well with them and also because I was forced to use them. Most of my life I’ve carried other guns including 1911s. Was also really into SIG back then when they made real guns like the 226, 220 etc lol. But when it comes down to it a Glock is one of the most durable, reliable, simplest and fastest tools to use for duty or EDC. They just work out of the box and require less special care and can be used bone stock or modified. Parts are sometimes compatible and are everywhere in the world and it’s all cheap unless you want a Taran built gun or something similar. I’m no fan boy for any one gun. Anything can be improved. It’s very true that Glock changes are small and not generally exciting. And we can see glaring errors such as making their .22lr and the slim frames low capacity single stacks when everyone else has developed reliable newer types of geometry for a double stack that’s flat. It would also be nice to see the factory fun sticks for the larger calibers! And things like a factory under cut, more sight options like Ameriglo and tall sights, maybe even a factory trigger upgrade choice would be great. But it’s like buying a Mustang or Camaro. They worked when bought but an entire aftermarket world was created to make endless personal upgrades. Yet no one ever mentions the 1911 and classic revolvers when saying Glocks never really change, lol 😂

@Magneticitist2 жыл бұрын
@@shooter3288 I'd say that's true and false at the same time because it depends on parameters. There are particular reasons I like Glocks. Namely the low bore axis and general feel of the G19 as far as the grip I can get on it, and how safe it is. None of the other guns I like outside of DA/SA platforms have the general safeness of the Glock trigger which moves an already precocked striker further under striker spring tension during the pull. Before that happens the sear sits on a shelf and can't be forced downward, which is another thing I can't say about guns like my Sigs. I can also obviously tailor my G19s exactly how I want easily with a sea of aftermarket upgrades. Having said that, I noticed straight away that I was getting 'more gun' and was able to shoot it better out of the box with a Canik. Canik has little to no support though so Glocks can build sentimental value in a way where it has over time been tailored to needs and parts can come together where they run very nice. The Glock name is still alive mostly due to people who have modified them so much they are basically different guns made by the aftermarket, so in the end it's the platforms that are doing all the heavy lifting and the platforms can't change much without defeating the purpose.
@shooter32882 жыл бұрын
@@Magneticitist that is a very good & valid point. I dont question glocks reliability. For me i'm the whats the best bang for the buck out of the box kind of person. Glock no doubt has great aftermarket, which in my opinion proves they are far from " perfect". Thats something i dont like, having to spend money on night sights & trigger out of the box to even get it to a point where i like it as much as a gun half its price. If glock would offer steel night sights & a nice aftermarket trigger out of the box standard without increasing the price then they'll have something. Also i feel glock doesn't listen to their customers or they would have atleast went with night sights as a standard. I think glock will get passed up by other companies especislly since the aftermarket for S&W, canik, springfield, Sig, walther etc is growing.

This is basically the size of the 43X but just a little wider and chambered in 40 S&W.

Just like when the FBI wrote the guidelines for their new sidearm, it originally required it to be modular & not requiring the trigger to be pulled to disable. Glock cried foul & the lawyers made them be used during the trials. The Customs requested the gun be totally modular as well as each agent would eventually be issued a single serialized “gun” plus conversion kits to allow it to be used in full, compact, & sub-compact models. Glock cried foul and the lawyers allowed them into the trials. To their credit, Glock experienced zero malfunctions during the trials and the other closest competitors had one single malfunction. I’m told that was the deciding factor. Here’s the kicker. Not a single G47 has been issued to a CBPO agent, they all were issued the G19. And instead of issuing each agent all 3 sizes if they wanted the G26 the agent had to purchase it themselves, AND it used a specific 11rd magazine that was not compatible with normal G26 mags. Glock has built a number of very innovative designs that have never been sold to the public or LE. The 46 was one of many. @@triadnine6627 Glock doesn't make as big of a deal of it as Ruger or SIG, but they seem willing to give a customer what that want so long as they order a sufficient quantity (like distributor frame color exclusives, frames minus slides for Big Tex, occasional batches of G3 RTF models, 17Ls, etc). If a US distributor was willing to commit to ordering 500 G46s, it wouldn't shock me if Glock accepted that order. @@jonnnn4895 what pudding said. Look we are all different people in the world with different needs and preferences. My needs and preferences are good parts support and availability, then a firearm that is so reliable that it doesn't need the parts availability factor, i also want a weapons platform where all the parts and magazines are interchangeable so in the unfortunate event of a catastrophic failure I've got a multiple contingency options. I want a firearm with the longest point between sights as possible while still being "concealable" the G34 is just perfect but the slide is just a tad bit too long for me to comfortably conceal. Also barrel length is linked to reliability when using crappy ammo and although im not a die hard "doomsday prepper" i do take civil war and the reality of ethnic cleansing in my part of Africa very seriously more so because I'm white. So the G17 is the perfect fit, i know people say the G19 is just a more conceal able version of the G17 but I'm not buying it, every inch counts. And for me the part that struggles to conceal is not the slide but the handgrip so cutting the grip to fit G19 mags is logically a no brainer so this G19L is a perfect fit but is seems they used the smaller barrel instead of the bulky G17 barrel, probably for weight but in my opinion I'll just buy another G17 and cut it, i just like every 10th of a millimeter that adds reliability even if it is a bit heavier.

Few years too late the rise of pistol mounted optics makes the longer sight radius far less important these days. You could say that there is a weight advantage thus mitigating recoil but it would be very miniscule at best and in my opinion the glock 45 mos is probably the new Goldilock glock. A Glock 26 MOS would be exciting for the US market because as I stated mounting an optic would increase hit probability at further ranges and would be compatible with standard capacity Glock19,45,34,19x and 17 mags or perhaps something even with a 26 mos slide and a 19 size frame, but that would be too Innovative for Glock of course.
@B_A_Images2 жыл бұрын
You are dead on about the pistol optics eliminating the need for the longer sight radius, but the longer barrel does help a little with increasing the velocity. How about a G26 frame with the option for a 19 or 17 sized slide and barrel. Highly concealable but better velocity and a red dot.

I use to want full sized slide on a compact grip until I used a timer to compare the same gun in compact vs full sized. Draw was faster with the compact slide, splits were the same and accuracy was the same out to 25yds. Sight radius was negligible between a full sized and compact slide and completely irrelevant if you have a mrds mounted. And, when you have non-uniformed personnel who need something a little easier to conceal, that also comes into play.

Thoughts on this way of 19 frame and 17 slide vs a grip chop on a 17. Then you still have the full length recoil spring. What made the 19 long slide co fig the least shootable?

I’d be way more excited to see something like a double stack 43 or 43x. Like the shadow systems cr920… I just hate the idea of having to purchase and count on shield mags. Not to mention having to change mag release button as well.

Isn't the 26 and 19 those same sizes but double stack?

Double stack 43 is the 26. Been making it since the 90’s, and you get 10rds instead of 9

Naa the 26 and 19 is way chunkier and way thicker. I think he wants a slim line double stack?? Apparently the cr920 manages to be double stack ,while still being just as thin as a 43??, but I don’t know if that’s true.

I've been on the fence for years on getting a glock in 9mm. Love my, 21g4, 20sf,30s, and 29sf. Now with the 47 coming, I'll finally get a 19 and the 47. 👍🏾
