This is a great song. Written by their bassist Kathy Valentine. Three minutes of power-pop. What makes it so interesting is that musically it sounds so upbeat and cheerful, even the title “Vacation” makes you anticipate something happy. But to listen to the lyrics, it’s a downer. “Two weeks without you and I still haven’t gotten over you yet,” “Vacation, meant to be spent alone”. It’s so much more than your average pop song.

I got to meet Jane once, she was doing an in record store appearance with her band Frosted, must have been 1996 or 97. She was as sweet and gracious as you hope she would.

The Go Gos pumped out alot of hits, but the song I think you should hear is post Go Gos by Belinda Carlisle called "Heaven is a Place on Earth." It was a whole new beginning for her as she got clean and sober and the song itself meant a ton to her. She looks and sounds great.

My Brothers (metal) band played a gig with the Go Go's on the bill. Don't know how that happened. Go Go's got booed. But they (especially Carlisle) made some big bucks. Hopefully they invested wisely.

I don't mind that they are in the Hall of Fame. How many all female rock bands are there? That had success. Now that being said- there are a lot of groups that should be in Kansas, REO Speedwagon and Jethro Tull. Probably a lot more. It's dumb when they put in County Acts (Dolly Parton) instead of Rock Acts

Never react to a live version of the song. Always react to the studio version first so you're experiencing it the same way we did when we first heard it on the radio. This live version does not do it justice.
