Haven't seen the remaining video yet but that first game is the kind of game that pisses me off the most when playing zerg, to the point where I actually feel like uninstalling. Of course I never do because there's no replacement for this game, but ZvT is definitely the match up that has the most potential to feel like absolute nightmare to me. It was very easy to sympathize with Serral for me there. :D

Serral is so good at saving his units and not taking bad trades that sometimes when he just needs to commit and then remax he wont do it. There were a couple fights in the first game where he could have just committed and then remaxed and over run Clem.

03:00 - every Terran now builds a Cyclone. I LOVE how youtube and reddit Terrans whined about how bad the new cyclone was. What a huge nerf to Terran (completly ignoring that it was never build in TvZ...) And here we are, the Cyclon has come from a Unit that was never build in TvZ to a unit that is almost always build in TvZ. Not in big numbers, but it is build. Making the Cyclon-change a big buff for Terran in TvZ.

Anyone with a brain saw it coming exactly as it is now: A safety and comfort-unit for T early to midgame transition, keeps adepts away, keeps overlords away, can help with some all-ins (although became mostly worse in that regard) and will force Z to give up their 4th usually if T goes for 4 cyclones + 4 hellions or similar. It's gone from a niche unit with specific roles to a allround-unit that's quite decent for its cost, is a save option and easily put into any build order. There's some annoying cheeses with them. Almost pure buff to T; as if T needed that lol.

Serral is the absolute GOAT, I played him in dreamhack Bucharest 2013, and almost cheesed him, but before that... I watched him play for a second, and my mind got blown... the first Zerg I've ever seen burrow/unburrow single roaches, focus targeting and moving around in a micro battle.. and that was 2013! People had 2 buttons back then " A " + " Move ", especially zergs... He really is the Flash of starcraft 2

This here just another proof how imba is terran, even if the best player in the world is tilted and stuggles against widow mines and how die hard terran is (mules, lifting buildings), then for the rest of the players it's double true. The other day Maru defeated Serral just by using lots of liberators with MMM, which apparetly can be only countered by corruptors, but then they are otherwise mostly useless (not in Serral's hand of course). Someone should propose some kind of actual nerf to ridicuosly effective terran units/economy/production (at least one of those) next patch already.

@@tigera6 They do, but they're more 'fair' competition, they do regularly lose to other races. Even before finals. It's kinda like, when Serral is going full throttle, he's just at 101% where everyone else is at 99%, that tiny diffrence translates into silly statistics.

@@unfairlive2 How is it more "fair" if you take Serral out, the other top Zerg still win 2 Blizzcon, 3 IEM, mutiple GSL and WCS/ESL title? Zerg has won a lot as a whole, not because of a single player in LoTV, but Serral is definitely the most consistent player among them. As for the highest ceiling, I would still think Reynor has the capability to surpass Serral, he already has an impressive resume, and the only question is when he will do it and if SC2 esport will live that long.

@@tigera6 I think so too on Reynor. He's aready so very good. And well I meant it in the literal sense, he's a statistical outlier. When we remove Serral from the dataset, then it's a lot more equal between the races. Protoss will still be a bit behind the other two, but zerg and terran aren't as unequal any longer. He has an atm rather silly 82% winrate v terran and 87% v Protoss... And that's just going to skew the set. (Data taken over all of 2023, since Jan)

it dies very fast to banelings, which takes 16 maxed banes to kill, which costs 1200 total resources. a planetary only takes 700 ish so it’s a bad trade to blow it up fast

It dies quick but it does costly, you have to committ in order to kill it. A simple backstab with just a group of lings won't do anything against it because it will just shoot them, and without microing such a backstab they won't even attack the SCVs and maybe get a couple of kills, whereas an orbital will have to lift and you have to evac all the SCVs, many of which will die before your army rallys over to defend, and then you probably have to waste a scan to drop the orbital because a ling was burrowed underneath it, which is a wasted mule.
