Great video again Jon. It always saddens me when I see how much we know about even the minor gods of the Mediterranean and middle east (or even the Norse) and how little is preserved of and how much is lost of the gods of Ireland.

Thanks Jon. Amazing that so much of the texts are not translated. My god, you would think this would be a priority amoung academics and the government. Grateful to those like Morgan Daimler who are doing this essential work. Wow... I had no idea. Thanks.

Lost lore is a perpetual headache for those of us that follow the "older" Gods.

Okay. This video has sent me down a rabbit hole since I watched it yesterday. I'm trying to find the source lore for Áine and Ailil, but haven't succeeded yet. Does anyone know where I can find the source for it? Is this a different Áine from the Dinnshenchas Áine. Since apologies if you talked about the story and I missed it in the video.

You can read about Aine and Ailill at several books like Silva Gadelica (1892) or Gods and Fighting Men (1902). But I recomend "Limerick Folk Tales" (2016) by Ruth Marshall!

Thanks for this info Jon, I thought Aine is the goddess of apples? I can't remember where I got that from, many years ago!

if you study multiple mythologies, you might have gotten Aine crossed with the Norse pantheon's Idunn, who occupies a similar archetypal niche as Aine, and does have a strong association with apples

So most of what we knew about Aine, like the fairies and the rapes and the sun, were all fabricated?
