I'm still pissed that Iron Maiden were completely overlooked, not even _MENTIONED_ during the London 2012 Olympics, despite the fact that, by whatever metric you look at, they are clearly one of the biggest bands England has ever produced and are probably the BIGGEST name in metal! (you could probably argue that Metallica are, but even they fanboy over Iron Maiden!) But no.....according to the 'mainstream' in the UK, Iron Maiden don't even exist! The media still holds a 30+ year long grudge against Maiden because the band refused to play by their rules and did their own thing (and became fucking massive by doing so), so as far as our media are concerned, they don't exist. We really should have celebrated them along with all the other legendary English bands during our Olympics ceremony. It's a travesty that we didn't.

But generally they don't try to sink the boats and attack humans. There'd be more boats actually sinking and at the very least a few deaths otherwise.

Attacking the rudder to incapacitate the boats so they need to stop would be the same predation tactic they use on other marine life. But they don't tend to sink the ships and they're intelligent enough to understand ships aren't food. In any case, the Ocean Pandas are not out for blood. 700 registered attacks, only 6 sunken ships and 0 casualties are a good indication of that.

Quick french history lessons for those who don't know ( or only read the Bible ) : the so-called "castle" is La Conciergerie ... this building had many functions throughout history but was mostly a jail, especially during the Revolution where Marie Antoinette was imprisoned before she got decapitated. So the scene is appropriate in context. In terms of symbolism, it's the same topic : The French Revolution. We are the OG of "f8ck around and find out" when it comes to government oppression historically speaking. And it's all about blood. The french anthem ( La Marseillaise) is all about blood of the oppressors. Dozens of monuments in Paris and the rest of France is about blood. And tbf i don't think Joe meant to use the word "romantic" any other way than through sarcasm and pure mockery for the same ignorant people than haven't evolved since the 80's : if the gain cranks past 7, they start yelling Satanism.... Side note : the decapitation show was the idea of the Olympics organizers who handed Gojira the contract proposal. Gojira had no say over it and were aware of it maybe just a couple of days before hitting the stage. The only freedom of expression they had was over the songwriting only. And even if they liked the idea, they weren't the one responsible for what you saw. Peace.

i'm French and to be clear : ths show was very well done and Gojira is a great band BUT what is very questionnable is the ideology behind it , yes french revolution is a major event of recent french history but what is disturbing is despite all the events occuring around the revolution, the people who created the show focused only on the horrible murder of the queen , basically the republicans were jealous of aristocrates and nobles wealth and power and they decided to make a putsch tu murder men,women , children and take their place , there is NOTHING about freedom of the people. and this show is showing precisely how proud they are to have done these murders , they are not celebrating the freedom of the people (which was not the cause of the revolution) or any other positive thing about it , they are just celebrating their greed and violence . many people even french people are unaware about the real nature of the french revolution and the republican regime (mostly because this regime brainwash them since 200 years) now ,just transpose the same show with another regime (communism , nazzzism,etc) and you will understand how disturbing it is . this ideology proudest accomplishement is the violence and crimes they commited to get the power , they are litteraly and openly only celebrating the blood , not even trying to justify it by some good intentions, just the blood ....

I think the biggest reason that Metal stopped causing a panic, and Metalcore/Deathcore (as stated in the video) is a big reason behind it, is the fact that most bands don’t LOOK the part. They wear button up shirts and vans sneakers. Performances like this one have been nonexistent for awhile. This just made me love Gojira 2x as much as I have loved them for the last 15 years.
