But how often do you review the original 20 list after 3 distillations?

Hello! I didn't understand which words we must write on the second (silver) book? The same words as the first book or we must create new headlists? Thank you!

Hello! What I like to do is take all the vocabulary from my gold book that I still can't remember and put it in my silver book. Once you remember those you can create new head lists. I hope that make sense :)

The person who developed this method (David James) recommends that you write it by hand because you will have a better chance at remembering it rather than typing.

Hello Milan, that depends on you. For example maybe you are watching something in English, reading a book or having English lessons. It all depends on you. What I will see say is find something that works for you and be consistent : )

Where do you find your 20 words/phrases per day for each of the days? I am trying to learn Italian and would like to try this method.

It can be via reading, watching series or movies, listening music, etc. The source of the vocabulary doesn't really matter, as long as you are persistent with the method (if you wait to long for the distilation, you will forget to much words. Usually, people says you have to wait a least 2 weeks but no more than 2 months).

Looks like a rather cumbersome and inefficient way of simulating a SRS in an analogue way. Maybe call it the Leitnerbook method. I see no advantage over using Anki or Memrise here. And those already are not ideal for learning vocab as they take vocab out of their context unless you create your own course based on a context you are working on.

um the thing with using anki relies on the user using it daily and using their judgement on whether they know a quotes or not and the reviews can be overwhelming nobody said this method is better than anki, it’s an alternative for those who struggle with using anki and it’s ideal for those picking and choosing the words from qhat they read/watch/listen instead of using a pre built deck. language learning isn’t about efficiency, it’s about consistency.
