The Golden Eagle III : Evening and morning flights

Relaxing flight video in 4K quality. Rubber powered free flight. Scratch built Wakefield model according to a plan by Keith Palmer. Constructor of the original model : Harald W. Orwin, Norway, in year 1937. Orwin came 2nd with the Golden Eagle III (Kongeörn) on the 'Scandinavian' of the year 1937.
A first plan of the model was published in Frank Zaic's Model Aeronautics Yearbook 1938.

Beautiful build and flights ! Looks like you have it perfectly balanced (cg ) and simply have done a wonderful build ! Love the Moonlight Sonata as background music , hmmm, Moonlight would be a perfect name for this plane, it looks as good as a full moon in a clear starry night sky.

You’ve built a spectacular Golden Eagle III. Thank you very much for sharing it with us. I hope to build one someday. That polyhedral gull wing sets it apart from everything else. The piece de resistance was the landings. A free flight rubber model that can land on its wheels is a sign of superior design and construction.

Thank you very much. The build is really to be recommended. If there is one tip I wish I had before the build, it would have been this: Make the ribs big enough so that you can sand everything to fit afterwards. The model still has one challenge ahead of it: take off from the ground. I haven't dared to do that yet...

I have only been practicing this hobby for about 10 years. But I have also tried RC with rubber drive : kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpqkfpuOZ7aeoM0 But in the end I stick to free flight 😊
