I was always a MOPAR guy. I remember Curtis Turner well. How could you not remember him?

He got a lot done in 46 yrs. Real moonshine runner, check, Pikes Peak winner, check, Daytona 500, check, founded Nascar (one of 12), check, partied like no tomorrow, check, participated in Carrera Panamerica, check. Jeezus christ, this is the definition of a larger-than-life character. People, if you want more info, listen to the Dollop podcast on Curtus Turner, great 90 mins on his life with more details on stuff and less on racing.

At 40:00 The deaths of Joe Weatherly and Fireball Roberts were tragic, to say the least. You left one out. Jimmy Pardue. He finished 2nd in the Daytona 500 in 1964. He sat on the pole in the 600 mile race in Charlotte when Fireball was so badly burned. Jimmy was hired by Goodyear to run a 10 lap tire test. His right front tire blew on lap 7. He never recovered. He was a well respected good ol' boy from Wilkes county North Carolina. Even in death, he deserved to be named among the best. Just my opinion. Rest in Peace Jimmy 🏁 Car 54 Here I Am 🏁1930-1964 Mike Pardue

We saw him race at Weaverville Speedway and win. He was always my favorite driver. He was my first and only childhood hero.

It's amazing how they showed it he loves to drink and party and that there are some people think that just because he had alcohol in him that caused a wreck even though there was an eyewitness let's said he had engine trouble he was fighting the airplane all the way down trying to save it Curtis Turner was a champion no doubt about it I wish I could have met him

Wonder if NASCAR will ever induct Curtis into the Hall of Fame. If there ever was a driver that should be in it, its Curtis Turner. He was the Real Deal. R I.P.

Modern cars have no style or character whatsoever. They all look exactly alike pretty much. In the old days you could tell exactly what make and model a car was. Each model had their own unique styling
