Remember when Joe Lacob (the Warriors owner) bragged about how they were "light years ahead" of all the other teams in the NBA in their scouting, organization, and all that? They got lucky when Steph had his ankle injury and took a lower contract that enabled them to build their franchise. They've managed things well, had great players and a great coach, but the chickens always come home to roost. As a Spurs fan, I know not to get too high...there is no free lunch in professional sports.

Klay made a huge mistake declining that 2 year deal Warriors offered him before the season but now I don’t think he will ever get an offer that high with Warriors or any other teams. Unfortunately he’s not the same player anymore after those horrific injuries and his value is super down 😢

I mean the solution is obvious for both Draymond and Klay. The GSW need to offer them contracts based on their play over the last few years and their contributions to the team. If it's not worth it to them to stay on the team for those amounts, THEY can make the decision to leave. At the end of the day, they can both stay on GSW until they retire if they want to. But if it's about money to them, then they can leave and make more money.

Klay should just have negotiated the 2 year deal that would fit Steph and Drays timeline in GSW contract wise. 48M for 2 years is a bit low but he should have just took it because i think this is the reason he is playing inconsistently because the contract is in the back of his mind and the pressure is creeping in to perform well. maybe a 2 year, 70M could have been workable but ala, we are here now and GSW is quickly going down the drain. Sad to see this for Steph but i think he also needs to intervene about this, if there is a voice Klay would listen to, its gotta be his. Just make the contract extension and start anew the season next year and try to get to the playoffs.

They're trying to navigate a tough situation as to not repeat Jerry Krause's mistakes with ending the Chicago Bulls. They're at a losing position offering a 20 mill contract to Thompson and Green. Even then, he doesn't want to talk about it. It basically seems like they're gonna be sinking money into those players just long enough for Curry not to get another chance at the championship and that's because they don't want to be remembered in history like Krause is. Klay was honestly better when he first returned after those injuries 2 years ago than he is now, that's just how bad he's been this past year. Injuries may have compromised his on-ball defense, but shooting ability for one of the best spot up shooters of all-time does not change no matter what injury they sustain. He just sucks now...

It ain’t just Klay. He scored 30 last game and they still lost. The rest of the team could not make up for the Curry off night. Kawahi and Powell scored at will pretty much with those short range jumpers.I think Podz is a good player, thought so in the couple of college games I saw but using a high draft pick for him when they got Chris Paul, already had Lester Quinones, and then brought in Corey Joseph, made no sense when they need a legit rim protector. I wish they had given Wiseman more time and coached him more intensively. I read somewhere that Steph did not want to play with him so he was gone. I think Lester Quinones is more of an offensive threat than Podz. For some reason he is not getting the love. Looks like Wiggins is pulling the same thing he did in Minnesota that caused them to trade him to GS. I think his problem is mainly between the ears thought that problem may have affected his conditioning. It is interesting to me that the team spends all this money on these players but cannot seem to get a handle on what is going on with them when they do not meet expectations. All we get is he’ll come around. Perhaps the team knows more than they tell us.

Myers left because he was a horrible GM the last two years with GS. Wasted the #2 pick in the draft on Wiseman. Didn't punish Draymond for punching Poole leading to Draymond thinking that he had a free pass on violence. Then Sebonis happened. Then Gobert. Then Nurcic. Myers didn't resign GP2 and had to use a trade to get him back. Myers let Wiggins take two months off and then stuck with him when it was obvious that he wasn't right.

This is a business. Loyalty for businesses is transactional not unconditional. If Klay and Dray can't help them win in the Western Conference it behooves management and ownership to do something about that. Simple as that really. Klay isn't going to get $50m for two years ANYWHERE else unless somebody like Detroit just gets absolutely desperate. Does Klay want to go somewhere where his legacy is to never make the Finals again much less get a ring? Would he be willing to do something like Russ Westbrook and take the Vet minimum to get on a Championship roster again? Say an off the bench spot up shooter for somebody like the Nuggets?
