Taking you through the workings of a web site SWINGOMETER tool that I have created, to help you learn the amount of putter uplift needed for different distances of putt, and with adjustment for different green speeds.

This game is good but very frustrating. I put for birdie a lot but then end up with triple bogey. I have played tons of golf games and usually finish well under par. This game I'm 20 over in 12 holes.

I think you did a nice job with this timing tool for puts. You give a lot of good tips. I wonder if visual cues would provide a more consistent result. Also, It would seem the speed of your movement would impact distance as much as how far or how long (time-wise) you swung. I do not play The Golf Club 2, but played TW and PGA Golf on PC from about 96 to 2008 a lot! I probably will get on here and get into it again, but may wait for 19.

Thanks. The reason I went to the effort of putting that together was because I always struggled to judge the putts semi-accurately if the distance went above 40-50ft, and going past 20 ft or more is enough to be looking at 3-putt land. Visually it's difficult at the end of the putt swing to judge the difference between 70-80-90-100. I couldn't find any way to explain visual tips for that, so timing was the only way. Anyway, yeah, wait for Golf Club 2019 - will be interesting to see what kind of improvements they've made to it

Great tutorials! Did have a question on the blobies, can you give a little more insight into how you see which ones making the most impact? I know you said look at the down hill plus the ones moving sideways, but there's so many of them I'd like to focus in on one or two instead of 20 lol. Thanks!

You saw the last video on putting tips? It's a tricky one to give an easy answer to. The speed of the blobbies is the main bit to focus on as that is the amount it will influence the ball as it passes over that square for the brief time. If you've got 20 blobbie going in different directions, then it's unlikely you'll hole the putt, so you just need to average it out and get the distance right to safeguard a 2-putt completion. To average it out, look at how many are going right and how many are going left and then cancel those out, and then see how many you have remaining and that will be the general direction the ball will travel and you compensate for that in your sideways putting aim. It's not easy for the complex greens, so just focus on getting it close, and if it goes in, then treat it as a bonus

DG GAMING TIPS thanks! This night be a dumb question but here's a scenario. I'm putting, i have about 6 1/2 blocks between me and the hole. I notice one of the squares has a blobie going faster than the others. Let's say this square is the second out of 6. Would i make my aim use that speed and curve as my main break or should i take a average of all 6? Sorry I'm a real noob to golf in general and just want to get better at putting it from 20 and longer

I see what you mean - the easiest way to think about it is to add them all up. So say that you have 10 blobs to putt across, and 9 of them are moving slow (say it will influence the ball to move left to right by 1cm) and one of then is moving a bit quicker (will influence the ball to move L-to-R by 2cm), then you need to aim left by 11cm. That's a simplistic explanation of it if. It's more complex than that in reality in terms of the way the ball will arc round, but it's maybe the easiest way to think about it - i.e. slope will influence the ball left to right, so you hit the ball some distance leftwards away from the hole, and the slope pushes it back to a parallel line (i.e. same parallel direction as your putter to the hole), and then after the mid-point (the apex) continues to push it in a curved path all the way to the hole. Does that make sense, or have I just made it more confusing?

Uploaded a first test version with a guessed speed multiplier. Haven't had time to thoroughly test it out. It works okay on the shorter putts. Need to do some more practice on the longer putts to tweak it

the only area of concern on the 187 speed is the downhill putts. I had an 15ft putt dh 4" .. I played 11ft and it went 34ft .. DH putts are very tricky on fast greens

Hi DG .. one of the best Augusta Courses is Magnolia with green speed at 171 .. if you have a spare moment could you add that to your swing meter ..TVM

Nahh, no problem. I've added those two now. I guessed at the strength difference, assuming the multiplier is linear between the Med.Fast (157) and Fast.TEST (187). Just playing it now. Seems to be about right. There's multiple Magnolia courses on offer, so for those reading this and wondering which one, It's the Magnolia National (CC-Am) by TGC Member. I'm going to do a bit of practice on it now and see how 'she' performs. Let me know how you get on

David McNulty You can use it on another device side-by-side, ideally a laptop where you'll get the sound, or a smartphone or a tablet (no sound - until I enhance it to get around the browser auto-muting)

the swingometer is working great on flat or uphill putts but on fast greens it seems to run quite a bit by the hole ...
@DGGAMINGTIPS
@DGGAMINGTIPS 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, agreed. I think we need to adjust our pre-calculation for downhill putts on fast greens. I.e. If 20ft putt on fast green and pin is 5" lower, then maybe we take 2ft off per inch down, or maybe slightly more, before punching it in to the SwingOmeter?
@pbduck
@pbduck 6 жыл бұрын

I've also seen a 9ft putt with 5" downhill .. we may have to think of a % number ... overall SOM is great !!

Glad you're enjoying it. I did also notice some lack of distance on the extreme uphills as well, so that's the same (not quite as bad though). So maybe N" UP needs 2 x ft added to yards on fast greens. And, N" DOWN needs 3 x ft added to yards on fast greens. Something like that?

I’m never buying another game from this company, it’s garbage. They need to patch in a yellow radius where ball will land and power bar and proper reads on green and a bigger hole. Yea + 35
