I was a volunteer Firefighter and EMT in the town I grew up in, We used to have a Street Fair every year, the 3rd weekend of August where the main street was blocked off. We had to park the the Firetrucks in a small field just off the main street so we could get out if a call came in. Some of us slept on the trucks throughout the weekend. .We went on 3 calls that Saterday evening. Pretty exausted but when we got back around 1:30 a.m., half way through a cooler of beer (there were 4 of us) I boughta micro casette recorder that was new and had recorded "Gene, Gene the dance machine" earlier in the week to test it. I bought it out played it. There we were at 3:a.m., 4 Firefighters half drunk doing the Gene dancing machine out in a field.🤣🤣🤣🤣

it would take way way to long to explain just how great this show was.... all i can say is thank god i was able to see it when i was a kid live.....

I didn't appreciate this when it was first run. But now that I've been a professional musician for the last 50+ years, I realize that this was a great opportunity for the live band there to go just absolutely nuts. And they sounded great!

hmm, never noticed the "STUFF" sign as a toddler (that's rich!) but man, Barris put on such a distinctive voice - even a baby couldn't forget him.

Look, there's no doubt that Chuckie Baby and Gene Gene are legends in my house and heart, but I also find myself yearning for more of those brief clips of coked-out Jaye P. Morgan doing her thing by the judges table.

Thing is, he wasn’t. Barris said many times that he never did drugs. At least during the show. In fact his daughter died of an overdose.

This makes me sad... A real downfall of television started with this man.
@CessnaDriver27 жыл бұрын
It's ok to just have fun too sometimes. Television is a medium like any other, it's up to the user what they consume. I'll sit and watch Brian Greene explain string theory and I can still enjoy Gilligan giving Skipper troubles. It's OK.
@killr120027 жыл бұрын
No the downfall of TV was the executives figured crap like Phil Donahue on daytime tv was less expensive to make than spontaneous shows like The Gong Show...and thus sprang glut of talk shows and judge shows.
