Hey everyone, I'm experimenting with re-branding the Triggered/Mind Blowing videos with this new video title and thumbnail format. Please let me know what you think of this! I know people don't like change, but I think it's good to at least try something new. This is a more simple version of this video style, we can definitely expand on it much more as time goes on.

Even though you can play as the miis, they aren't in the background as you play, in normal wii sports it's fun to see all the miis you made in the background, like Ned Flanders, Aang, or Darth Vader just chilling in the crowd.

With golf being an update, I have a gut feeling most of the classics from Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort will come in that form as well. Haven't been able to buy it yet, but might get it on sale.

All I can really say for Switch Sports is it is fun, but it could’ve had more variety. It may be cheaper than the average Switch game but if the game had more to do than what there currently is, I’d say the price tag is justifiable. I do have hope for a major update like Wuhu Island to return, like if Mario Maker 2 can give us a world map creator for a free update, which was a big deal for the game, I’d say they could expand Switch Sports in a major way. I doubt Wuhu Island will come back but one can dream.

I really like what this game has so far. I think te game is going to improve with the addition of more updates and more sports. I wish there was more content in the base game, and having to wait for golf is ridiculous, but I think the game will improve.

I just wish games would stop doing this tho. For physical copies it just means you need to use more space on your console and that the physical copies arent going to be as intended when nintendo online eventually folds. It's like when they put all of the postgame, remastered soundtrack and opening and ending cinematics of pokemon brilliant diamond and shining pearl as a "day one patch" to save on production costs by using smaller cartridge sizes (like, storage size, not size size lol) these "updates" just feel like its used as a cop out more often than not, just start shipping out full sized games pls.

Well,just remember Wii sportsonline have 5 sports. Time has changed. Nowadays, it feels odd when the game doesn't get any updates. The main factor is the ability to attract customers, just like how Wii sports attract players who are not into gaming like our grandma.

As a fellow resort player, I will warn you. Calling "cHaMbArA" a "return" of swordplay is incredibly misleading; the physics are very different. You can block freely, but it only registers as diagonal, horizontal, or vertical. The same is true for swinging, but compared to blocking, it "snaps" it into place. You can't swing the sword at will, like you can when blocking or just holding it out.

I love how you used the different coloured borders, to show when you saying good or bad things about the game. I honestly like this version more, than the triggered/mind blowing version. Also the skits are a cute addition, they don't break the pacing, and fits your brand quite well.

I love the Miis but I still have my issues with them. Like I cannot wrap my head around the fact that there are still NO curly/kinky/natural hairstyles with the Miis. Like I understand the game was made in Japan and they don't really think about their western audiences, but you'd think Nintendo of America would have at least mildly attempted to localize it. I have fluffy curly hair. Even a simple afro would have done it and yes I’m aware that there is one Afro but it looks ugly and doesn’t match. They did add a few new things for the Miis but for the most part they are the same when it first came out with the Wii. They need a massive update of content and features very similar with what they did with Miitopia.

I’m happy with it. I just wish you could play Special Bowling online-regular survival bowling is good, but without the added randomness of obstacles, if you don’t get a strike/spare every time, you’re going to go out fairly quickly.

Considering Wii Sports came with the Wii, I'm disappointed with how much this cost. The bowling was just not good (The wii version is just better), volleyball was also bad, and I felt like the whole point of wii sports was to play together, and with online being the only way to unlock things, it just feels lacking.

I'd argue that the inclusion of badminton isn't pointless at all. Tennis is more so for the casual audience and has a different sense of speed and difficulty to it. However badminton is more technical and immersing as your movements more important overall, not to mention the different options you have with it.

I still have the Sports+Sports Resort 2-game disc. It's scratched out the wazoo and I can't play anything on it anymore, but for all the years of abuse I tend to give to technology, I'm glad it lasted that long. Anyway, Switch Sports doesn't seem that good to me, but maybe it's just the nostalgia goggles.

I have a cool update idea: In one of the blurbs while the game is loading, it says: "There are loads of restaurants and cafes to explore and enjoy around spocco square!" I think it would be cool if you could actually enter a restaurant and there would be other players who would be walking around, and you can talk to them or organize matches with them.

The joy-con updates make the motion controls even more precise than before. I love Volleyball because me and my brother are very good. Badminton is really different from tennis if you’re good and there is a lot of strategy.

It’s once again another case of Nintendo rushing out a game to meet a deadline and then adding the content later as free updates. Just like with Splatoon 2, ARMS, Kirby Star Allies, Mario Tennis Aces and Mario Golf Super Rush. I am so sick of Nintendo’s whole ‘finish it later’ approach, it shows a complete lack of care for their products. STOP DOING THAT, NINTENDO! JUST RELEASE THE FULL GAME!

I mean, for one I guess games right now take much more time to be developed and designed than back then, when they could (and had to because updates did not exist) deliver the complete experience in time. Another thing is, marketing strategies. They are putting an X on the number of games there are gonna be, to keep customers interested in the game for a long time. This both wouldn't, and couldn't be done before, because of, like I already said, no updates. Game development tactics are just trying to evolve to satisfy the public demand in a reasonable time, as we've already had cases of people getting quite loud when having to wait a long time for a game. I know it's a shame that we aren't gonna get as many complete products on release as before, but I think that's just what it is for the development of ever-growing in ambition projects inside of a large company, which, for how big and rich, must be a mess to work at and get everyone's approval on a take. Like, imagine when they discussed whether to keep Miis or introduce other characters, what a mess has it likely been to get a final verdict. And imagine the thoughts behind it. It was quite a bold move to do so, seeing the old date fans' reaction to it. What I'm trying to say, is that there MUST be more depth to the situation than just "greed" and "laziness" like everyone is gonna say. Highly doubt the problem is that simple, inside of such a big company.

@@feder28 makes sense for some games but we're talking about a successor to Wii Sports of all things. Its crazy to see games like elden ring launch as a complete package day one, while a sports compilation can't even be bothered to do so.

@@Mal-go5dl Trust me, there's still much more work and design choices behind than you might think. Which sports to feature at all, for one. It most likely isn't as simple as "shall we add sport X? Yes then let's do it". And so it goes for every aspect of any game, even the simplest sport motion-based game out there. Probably for Elden Ring you mentioned they had already in mind most of what they were gonna implement and how to do it, and that's how they got so much content out on launch already, while for Nintendo developing a game that was both intended to be a sequel to the Wii sports games, but also not to feel too same-y was much bigger of a challenge on this front, especially given the huge fame of the series. Let's not forget that the 2 games are directed to widely different audiences, so while From Software might have been free to allow pretty much anything into their game, Nintendo must watch out for every single step they take in order to avoid the slightest scandal agains their game's rating. Which might be the reason games like boxing which involve DIRECT (unlike swordplay) contact with the opponent didn't and probably aren't making the cut. Every choice has it's own reason behind it, and it's a shame some tend to forget about it. Again sorry for the wall of text, I just tend to get too involved when typing about this.

About the new video format: while I'm gonna miss the old names, I think this is a good step forward for the series. I like the fact that now this is a constant good-bad-good-bad-good -bad debate between Nathaniel and Bathaniel, while before you had good for five minites and then bad for the same amount of time, like "I go first, then you go second". I like that the two interact more inbetween the different phases of the debate. Good job!

Honestly just play the Wii one. It has everything that made it special in the first place. Without 100 pin bowling, the classic voice of John Millman as the sports announcer, the miis, boxing against Matt, and not being able to throw the bowling ball backwards, and way less games, what's even the point? Just play the original. It has all the little charms that make it fun. They're trying to spice it up by making it quote on quote "better" but the simplicity and worse graphics are what made it so charming in the first place.

Also the music sucks. It's all this modern smash remix of a mario party song type of music, and it all just gets boring. The original and resort had so many classic and dynamic songs that all perfectly fit in with the sports, while still sounding "Nintendo". I also just wanna say that i totally agree with everything you said, and you just know the people who prefer the sportsmates played as the guest miis.

Having to pay for online gaming is goddamn anticonsumer. Microsoft started this anticonsumer BS with the Xbox 360, than Sony jumped on it with the PS4. One huge advantage the Wii U had over the competition was that it was the only mainstream Gen 8 console that didn't follow this anticonsumer garbage, and the Switch could've also followed suit, but than in 2018 (AKA wait for Smash Ultimate the year [AKA not a good year for Nintendo]), Nintendo jumped on the bandwagon with Nintendo Switch Online, and it's the worst case of this anticonsumer nonsense. Sure it was cheaper than the competition, but you still had to pay for it, and at least if you do pay for Xbox and Playstation online service, you get a serviceable product, NSO is a complete unusable mess, it's awful, and that and the fact you have to pay for it to begin with makes NSO the most anticonsumer of the anticonsumer practice. The worst part is that people defend this, NO, IT IS YOUR JOB AS A CONSUMER TO DEMAND BETTER, STOP CONSOOMING PRODUCT AND GETTING EXCITED FOR NEXT PRODUCT, THINK FOR YOURSELF AND DON'T LET YOURSELF GET STEPPED ON! Trust me, I refuse to purchase this anticonsumer online service, and so should you and anyone, payed online services is locking content of a $60 game under a paywall, it's like microtransactions, anticonsumer as all hell.

There's a trial mode for those that don't have NSO subscription. You can play online but the opponents are cpus. Unfortunately you can only get 2 rewards per week. You'll need the NSO subscription to get more rewards each week. You probably already knew that.

Nice break down of the pros and cons! I totally get fans being put off by the game, but it honestly has a great base and all the sports have just been fun. Even the slower sports like volleyball and soccer have depth I enjoy The sportsmates are bland but similar to splatoon avatars they're meant to be blank slates that rely on hair and outfits to look diff. They don't need mii depth cause that's what the miis are for. their bodies are way less distracting in actual gameplay than you think

I think Nintendo Switch Sports came out pretty good. It seems like a good balance between being a modern Nintendo game that appeals to those who did and didn't play Wii Sports, while also having the same Nintendo charm. 0:29 I am personally offended that you say that the new avatars look better than the Miis, because good Lord, they do not. They are generic, cookie cutter avatars that are severely lacking in customization. Minus the eyebrows, you get six options for the faces, all of which look way too similar. Miis let you get crazy with the faces, and this limit in the new Sportsmates feels like a step backwards. The new avatars feel like the shovelware knock-off of Miis.
