Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore, “Bates Motel”), a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome, relocates from a quiet country life to join a prestigious hospital’s surgical unit. Alone in the world and unable to personally connect with those around him, Shaun uses his extraordinary medical gifts to save lives and challenge the skepticism of his colleagues. The series is from David Shore (“House”), and “Lost” and “Hawaii Five-O” star Daniel Dae Kim.
The series stars Freddie Highmore as Dr. Shaun Murphy, Antonia Thomas as Dr. Claire Brown, Nicholas Gonzalez as Dr. Neal Melendez, Chuku Modu as Dr. Jared Kalu, Beau Garrett as Jessica Preston, Hill Harper as Dr. Marcus Andrews and Richard Schiff as Dr. Aaron Glassman.
The series is from Sony Pictures Television and ABC Studios. David Shore is writer and executive producer. Daniel Dae Kim, David Kim and Sebastian Lee are also executive producers. Seth Gordon directed the pilot and is also an executive producer.

While that’s a nice sentiment… becoming a doctor is A LOT of hard work and should NOT be taken lightly. You have to go to school for a minimum of 8 years and that doesn’t include a speciality, so if you want to specialize in something that’s another 3 years. I’m just saying all that because the show definitely romanticizes being a doctor and being autistic. And the reality is that, it’s super effing difficult to become a doctor. And realistically, if you struggled in school - which studies show is very common for people on spectrum - then you’re not going to succeed. Basically, people with autism often have lots of trouble in a classroom setting and that’s what becoming a doctor is. So enjoy the show, but don’t let it give you unrealistic expectations.

I have alwyays wanted to be a doctor or a surgeon when I was a kid then as i got older he grew further away but watching this show at 21 made me realize i wanna do it again. Plus i do have a hearing disability both ears r deaf but i use cochlear implants

I know KZbin used to belong to We the People....a place where you came to know, or tell......but I wanted to thank everybody that made this show and this is the only place I could talk and maybe someone would hear me................I have autism and this show is awesome because it makes me finally feel understood........but it is also the worst because it illuminates just how much the world doesn't get me and how I have a negative impact on normal people........I didn;t know I was so bad for them until I see their side now...........i was hurting justifiably so did not get to their part yet....not that I didn't care....which is how it looks to them as outsiders.

I have really terrible ocd, the specialist said it was one of the most severe cases she’s seen. I’ve been to 2 treatment facilities and still nothing. It makes having a life almost non-existent. I’d kill to have “regular” ocd or “easy ocd”, and have the chance to live on my on, and go to work everyday. It’s important to count our blessings! And you living the dream is quite the blessing! Take care!
