Did you not watch the same performance I did? How long ago do you think this was performed? Your comment has merit but not in this instance. Orchestras have and always will play their own instruments (to include vocals) free of deceptive manipulation. The only purpose of Orchestras/Symphonies is live performances, they're not recording artists. How can you compare physically playing Football to playing Football on Xbox?

@@cup_cuppy_cuppers5817 orchestras and symphonies are recorded all the time. granted, that's not their main and true purpose, per se, but to suggest that they're not also recording artists to some degree is a bit of a stretch, imo, particularly in this day in age. that's also not to say they're recording in a proper studio, but having their performances recorded is, i would imagine, pretty standard these days. so, in a way they are indeed recording artists at this level.

Ennio Morricone did the soundtrack for many of the grand movies of that era. Since I discovered him, I often have his music playing at home. It is grand, isn't it.

The lady who sang "wah wah", her name is tuva semmingson, a classically trained singer in her own right, she sings everything from opera to standards to pop. A diva of the 1st class. If you look closely, for this concert she was wearing little six shooter earrings. PERFECT!!! There was an interview with the two vocalists.Tuva Semmingsen AKA the Wa Wa Lady, as she has been called by the tube, actually likes being called the Wa Wa Lady. She couldn't believe how this performance took off on the tube. Christine Nonbo Andersen is the solo vocalist in the audience. This was her first performance with the Danish National Orchestra. Both ladies nailed their performances and added a stunning element to this Ennio Morricone masterpiece. Ennio Morricone was a composer of film soundtracks, where he used instruments and objects that are not normally used in an orchestral ensemble. Electric guitars, basses, ocarinas, bongos ... but also whips, gunshots, gusts of wind. Entering Morricone's work is a complete immersion. A moving tribute for fidelity down to the smallest details is what the Spaghetti Westerns Orchestra did to him.

This is sooo good. Can you imagine being there in the audience with the sound coming at you from all angles and vibrating in your chest ? This instrumentation is what synthesizers were invented to IMITATE ! I once lived in Richmond in a duplex house. One afternoon I was startled to hear a lady singing clearly and loudly, I walked through the house and opened the back door ... she was in the next house over from me practicing opera ... inside ! They are trained to use their voices to maximum effect and I had never heard someone project like that before, and she was just warming up ! Those opera singers are no joke, even though I don't really like opera music. Did you notice a mic on her ? I'm sure there was one somewhere but I didn't see one. She is trained to fill a room with sound and was in the perfect position to do it. Your a lover of music, if we were there we would probably have tears streaming down our faces because great music is an emotional experience, not an ego boost. By the way, that movie, you gotta see it. Its the definitive western, you'll love it, big production values too ! I appreciate your channel, thx. God bless you.

"The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly", is the third and final film of a trilogy of films featuring the character, "The Man With No Name", portrayed by Clint Eastwood. This film also starred Lee Van Cleef ("The Bad") and Eli Wallach ("The Ugly"), and was released in 1966. The other two films are "A Fistful Of Dollars" (1964) and "For A Few Dollars More" (1965). In 1964, Clint Eastwood was still working on the CBS Western TV series, "Rawhide". According to an interview of Eastwood I watched here on KZbin, he wanted to take his family on a European vacation, but he did not have enough money at the time to do so. By accepting a movie role from Italian director, Sergio Leone, to star in his low-budget Western film, "A Fistful Of Dollars", which was being filmed in Spain, he could take his family on that European vacation for free (or something close to it). Somehow, Leone found a US distributor to show the film in the US, and "A Fistful Of Dollars" became a surprise hit. In 1965, "Rawhide" was cancelled by CBS, a year after the untimely death of the show's star, Eric Fleming, while he working on a movie during the TV show's Summer hiatus. Clint Eastwood then began to focus his career as being a full-time movie actor. "For A Few Dollars More" provided him an opportunity to work that he badly needed, and that film also became a hit, and made Eastwood an International star. The Hollywood establishment had no choice but to take notice, and the rest is history.
@theloneranger87252 жыл бұрын
When you said low budget, you weren't kidding. The reason so many common instruments are used in Morricone's soundtracks is because he didn't have much money to work with in composing and recording the soundtracks. In the interview you referenced, Eastwood stated that the clothes he wore in the trilogy were provided by himself, and the stogies he smoked in the movies he bought himself in California and cut in half for the movies. Unbelievably, this movie, one of the greatest westerns of all time, had a budget of only 1.2 million dollars. In a movie made today, that probably wouldn't get you past the first ten minutes of filming.

Thanks so much for this info....I thought the music would be composed to suit the actual filmed action. Brilliant idea to use the music while filming. Lucky us to have geniuses creating entertainment for us to enjoy.

Yes, it's a phenomenal piece... I don't mind one iota that you're blown out and have to say so... I enjoy it...because it let's me know and feel close when we share the same exstatic joy for much the same reasons. Keep on Keep'n On Van...

I’ve watched lots of reactions to these 2 pieces of music and without fail, every single one of them stop and concentrate when Ecstasy of Gold starts. It’s the greatest piece of music ever written for a movie bar none. Peerless.

Morricone and genius.... I'm sold on that.

"Is that a clarinet with a straw?" --- Not exactly. It's called an English Horn, and it is a close relative of the oboe. They both have that reedy (kinda duck-like) sound quality that a clarinet doesn't have.

I knew it wasn't a clarinet, but I could have sworn it was an oboe. Thank you for the clarification!
@vandergrad2 жыл бұрын
@@patlarimore6960 you're welcome. 🙂Oboes and English horns sound extremely similar but the EH has a deeper, richer sounding quality about it. And, of course, the 'pipe' (bocal) that connects the reed to the instrument is a dead giveaway as oboes don't have those.

Great reaction, probably the best of many I've seen for this great piece. I'd like to ask you to react to "minstrel boy", an old Irish tune about a good, faithful Irish boy who died for home that over the years has been taken up as a tune paying respect to all soldiers who gave their all for home. If you can get through the whole thing without shedding a single tear, you're a stronger man than I. Many thanks

Your reaction to this is the absolute best I've ever seen, and proof is surely the fact that you feature in the Danish National Symphony Orchestra's own video in which Tuva Semmingsen and Christine Nonbo Andersen speak about this performance. They must have been so impressed with you!

It just shows you just how important the music is to a film, and the incredible amount of work by the composer and musicians. The film is nothing without the music.

The second part, Ecstasy of Gold, is played as the walk on music at every Metallica live show and has been since the eighties. A good one to see would be Enter Sandman live in Moscow 1991, if you haven’t already seen it.

This is Ennio Morricone, and if his music sounds familiar.... consider this (according to Wikipedia): Studio albums = 14 Live albums = 11 Compilation albums = 116 Video albums = 4 Singles = 61 Soundtrack albums = 520 Tribute albums = 18

You should also react to this orchestra playing “Once Upon A Time In The West”. It is a recording from the same concert. And you will hear many other special instruments.

This was written by ENNIO MORRICONE for a western "the good, the bad and the ugly" with Clint Eastwood and directed by Sergio Leone. Sergio Leone went also to school with Ennio Morricone when they where children in Italy in 1936 or something. So Cool
