This grinder would need to much cheaper for me to consider it. In Canada the P64 is only $150 more and the Mazzer Philos is $500 cheaper. Both excellent products from proven brands. Thanks for your review!

Thanks so much for the reviews... the burrs carrier thing is a big big down point for me

I saw this video a while back. The grinder is $1250+shipping in the US. I am trying to remember if Asser talked about the motor. The motor is sub 200w. This is probably a good buy at $600, but given the price range, and available grinders in the price range, this is probably the "worst bang for your buck" grinder.

Slow feeding the beans will give (not exactly, but) somewhat of an approximation of auger feeding, as discussed.

How are the lebrew burrs? Both for filter and espresso.

I believe this grinder is capable, but it costs more than Mignon Oro, which gives same retention with bellows(I was getting 0.1 -0.2g constantly). And you don't need to knock each time. The dial is more precise, the company is known, and it is also easy to swap burrs. Aesthetically, I also would prefer Eureka.

I wonder if the Mazzer 189D burrs will fit in the ZP-1 stock bottom burr carrier, as some users have noted it won't fit in their DF64V. Also some users have tried fitting the Ditting 64mm burr like found in the Olympia Moca SD, but that spins the right way, in their DF but the inner diameter of the Ditting is around 36mm and won't fit (DF are closer to 38mm ID and Mazzer burr measure around 37mm) so wonder if the ZP-1 stock burr carrier can work for this 'rare'-hard to get burr.

I tried Mazzer 233M on this one, but didn't fit. I still haven't found any grinders that will take it. So I'm not sure I'll take the plunge with more Mazzer 64 mm burrs before I see some positive reports :)

nice but i hope more single dose grinders in teh 500 Euro range or slightly above hit the market, this one is over 1000 and sadly not in white.

Nice review, this grinder is well made but perhaps a little overpriced, the Mazzer Philos could be a great alternative under 1k euros

Of course if you're using the knocker after it's finished all the retention is going it back into your cup that's not a good sign if you don't hit the knocker and you're getting most of the retention out in your cup I would say that's a better grinder. Another word's anyone can hithe knock button and get all of the grounds out the whole point is not having to do so to get what you put in out. I feel you or anyone is cheating to knock & bang to get ALL the coffee out. They need to come out with zero retention, especially when spending $$$

I have this grinder on order. I actually enjoyed this review even though it was a little skewing towards the negative at times. I'm just really excited for the build quality and I will immediately be throwing on the alternative burr carrier and maybe some SSP sweet labs cast v3 burrs. It will be my first espresso grinder and I'm really ready for the 64 mm rabbit-hole edit: actually probably going with SSP HU Burrs if they're worth it

Don't get me wrong, it's a sweet, sweet grinder. You'll enjoy it. SSP HU are excellent. Haven't tried Cast V3, but expect them to be good allrounders. Lebrew also has a new set of 64 mm lab sweet style that might be interesting.

Is this grinder not over-sized for a residential kitchen? Would be like keeping a bazooka on your counter-top. How would guests and friends react to this ? Perhaps the thoughts would be: He/she has really gone too far and too big, with purchases of coffee making equipment.

Lol. Not sure it's oversized but it does look a bit menacing/industrial compared to something like a Niche or Eureka Mignon.

I can’t think of smaller grinders, particularly with the feature set. Use the burrs as a frame of reference for size.
@coffeechronicler
@coffeechronicler 2 ай бұрын
True, most are around this size. Sculptor 064s is the only exception I can think of.

Yes, I have seen that mentioned elsewhere. There's definitely some kind of connection, but not sure if they are just distributors or actual manufacturers. Some Niches sold in Asia also have the WPM logo.
