My hair was healthy when I permed it, texturized it, and when I was natural but being natural was the hardest. I loved my curls but I loved when my hair was straight because I could always get it curled. I just think that every woman should do what's best for them and what they feel is right for their hair in the moment.

a huge part of life is making choices and learning from those decisions. ..if you'd never texlaxex your hair then you'd spend yrs wondering if you should. ..at least you've learned which texture you like best. so you learned something new about yourself . ttyl :)

I'll honestly probably still try it. My hair was to my butt when I used to get relaxers, I think it's at it's healthiest when straightened because I can maintain it's moisture more easily. I want only slight results (almost not noticeable), but if it becomes over processed, oh well...it's just hair lol. Probably time for a chop anyway if that happens 😂

I feel the same way. Since I've been natural my hair has the hardest time retaining moisture. When I had my relaxer it was thick, healthy, and growing.

Aneesa H. i’m texturising my hair tomorrow and i don’t care because like you said i retained more moisture when i was relax and i rarely wore it out so it was very low manipulation going on in my hair an tension. an it was long. i’m lucky i still retain length natural but i just want my “easy” going hair

im a cosmetologist and basically its better to use a keratin therapy smoothing treatment than texurizing (underprocessing) your hair with a relaxer..can be dangerous to not relaxing your hair for the full amount of time in the long run because your hair begin to snap on the hair shaft where a certain part took the relaxer more than others. if you go to sally ask for a Malibu crystal gel to restore the the bond that. have been damage from the uneven process

Thank you for your honesty. I've been completely natural for almost 7 years, however I will be texlaxing my hair tomorrow! I've watched several videos and know the good and the bad. Mine is more for convenience for versatility needed for work. I don't want it bone straight so I will closely monitor the time it's left in. Thanks again.

Yeah but the bad is bad unless you're truly ready to keep up with texturizing the new hair it will definitely break at the new hair especially doing the winter. So be prepared keep getting every so often are be prepared to CUT IT OFF.

Have you tried bentonite clay from whole foods with apple cider vinegar, olive oil, a little conditioner? It will make your new growth soft and your curls will pop. Don't put too much oil and put a cap on, leave for 30 mins. Deep condition after. Rollersets help as well because you are stretching out the hair. When you have two textures try to not let the hair tangle, brush/comb only on wash day with conditioner in your hair if you can help it.

I texturized (texlax) my hair a right after high school. I was natural for two years at the time and I didn't know what else to do with my hair besides using braids. I went on hair forums on how to apply relaxer on hair for a short period of time. I used silk elements with coconut oil and olive oil mixed in for 10 min application time and 5 min baking time. I felt like my hair had the same good side effects as yours. But just like you, I got at one application s curls then c looking curls the next application. It was a mess with the line of demarcation in between applications. I had so much breakage after a year of doing a application of every 3 months. Now Ive been natural for 4 years as of this Halloween and now I think I will be staying that way. Love your videos.

This is why I subsrcibed to you years ago....PURE HONESTY. You had to experience it to know if it would be something you liked or not. At the end of the day, you're still the same person. Its hair...lol. Something that will always replace itself, so you always have another opportunity to do what YOU want with YOUR hair. Ppl need to realize, different things work for different ppl, and ppl dont know what works for them until they have TRIED. And besides, from what I've seen from your hair journey, your hair grows super fast when you found a regimen that worked for you. Thanks for the video. It was super cute how you gave acknowledgement to the ladies who said "you gonna come right back to the natural side". lol. (p.s. I wasn't one of them)

"Secret Perm" or "Baby Perm" was what I was told when I asked about texturizing to reduce fights w/humidity, shrinkage and time spent on my hair in general. So I decided to stay natural after working w/it for so long and if I go back I would go all the way back to perm. The time consumption was a huge factor I had to manage b/c I don't use any heat.

I am glad I was able to see this video and I am putting the box back into the bag with the receipt. The pros do not seem to outweigh the cons My daughter has 4c and she had a relaxer put into her hair We grew that out and now I was going to do a texterizer but I decided to twist it out with some conditioner. I love her curl pattern and the strength of her hair so I definitely don't want to change those.

Thank you for being honest about your experience with texlaxing your hair. I've been strongly considering tex-laxing my 3 year natural hair for weeks... I think we all go through a phase of wavering with our hair. I've been both natural and relaxed and after a summer of wash & go's, fairy nots killed at least an inch of my ends. Anyhow, your video was a gentle reminder of dealing with texturized/relaxed hair; and helped me make my decision to just clip off that inch or two & stay natural. Thanks for sharing & have a beautiful day! :)

Your honesty was refreshing. I'm very tender-headed, and it's a nightmare when I detangle my really thick, kinky curly hair. So I have been strongly considering texturing lately. But I honestly feel like I would miss my hair and eventually transition back to natural. I already transitioned once, and honey let me tell you that that was an ordeal I will NEVER be willing to go through again. Lol

Hmmmm. To each it’s own...while trying to be on this natural hair journey I feel either way is your choice proper hair care and maintenance is best. My teen daughter love her newly texturized hair, all the tugging, pulling and daily struggle.. I decided to make life easier for her. I don’t regret texturizing her hair. I just feel bad I didn’t do it sooner. I do take her to a professional every 2 months. In between that we do weekly washes and leave in conditioner. The only solution to doing her natural was keeping it braided constantly. She was sooooo tired of wearing braids. Good luck.

Your makeup is gorgeous! I think texturizing is for those who like relaxed hair but prefer it not to be bone straight, in this case one is not concerned about a curl pattern and your hair is a little healthier/ strengthen. However I didn’t understand your breakage maybe you would have needed a protein treatment because if you are relaxed new growth is in its natural state which give you two different textures and most won’t experience a complete break at that point long as it’s consistent like every 12-16 weeks. This is for the ladies considering this.

I learned a lot about my hair after I stopped texturing it. My experience was good from the start, I was having my hair in a wash and go method, but then as soon as my thick hair grew it out, my hair was not having it and so it went down hill - so my old hair would just fall out and I had to cut off the ends cause the textured hair would turn to bone straight.

+kimoni6 I mean the line is a bunch of products... But I purchased 3. I got a travel size of the glossing straightener, and I got the full size of the product called naturally straight and the conditioner. I used the condish when washing the naturally straight and glossing product before blowdrying / flat ironing. Depending on what I was going for. I don't think you need both, the naturally straight is supposed to be sufficient and used longer term the glossing product is meant for one time use but I sometimes used them together sometimes separate. Hope that helps!

i was natural for 4years i loved it, it was thick and curly kinda dry tho.. one day last year in oct i went off the deep end and texturized it worst decision ever!!! it was thin and brittle and lifeless. i cut it off again in January now im on my natural hair journey again once and for all. gotta embrace what God gave me 😀 good luck

I had my cousin texturized my hair because i didn't feel comfortable with my natural hair , it was short , didn't grow and it wasn't manageable for me or my mother to do. Now that my hair is texturized i hate it so much , how would you suggest i grow my hair out without having to cut it?

Joella Xavier I texturized my hair 2018 in December, because I couldn’t maintain my 4c at that time and afterwards I got the same side effects she mentioned. Well, I chopped it off last year September and since then it’s been growing good, but like everyone I’ve got my good and bad days. I recommend: Rice water (wash rice a little and drain it into a bowl - soak rice again (make sure the rice is covered fully) with orange (orange has Vitamine C, which is good for the hair) - leave it overnight - add the water into the same bowl that is already filled with the other water - keep it in a bottle); a water spray bottle mixed with aloe vera juice (it’s better when you get the plant and mix the aloe vera yourself) and depending on your hair type heating cap method and make sure your hair is either twisted or braided, wanna keep your protected at all times

When you return natural you can go to a natural hair salon & they can tell you what products are good for your hair to retain moisture. You can also Google & see what's good for natural hair that has a hard time retaining natural.

Hello Ambre, Good luck on your new journey! This time around you should try to flat iron less like once every 3 months, you will gradually see a difference in thickness of your hair.

I want looser curls but a texturizer ia like a perm amd I had it as a teen and some hair fell out. Luckily it grew back but I don't want to experience that it is. They need a temporary version of a texturizer where with a certain shampoo we can get our normal hair back

Great video! I'm going back natural too. I've been texlaxing, but it's been breaking off my hair. Right where the new growth and ends meet. I guess I need to go back to natural too
