They are still great tractors. They also just look so tough and tougher with duals.

Aussie farmer here,I used to operate a Case 1270 for a neighbour.They were a good looking tractor with no real problems except their weak diff,which I blew while getting her bogged.The repair was expensive and they put in an uprated diff gear set.This was 1982,they sold her a bit later and bought a new Case 2390.Same clunky powershift that failed at 6000 hours due to using a mutigrade oil and not Hi-Trans.

IMO the 1570 is the best looking tractor of the 70's

That's a pretty big 2wd tractor. We own a Case 970, 1070, 1270, 1370 and a 2390. That 2390 with a loader on it snapped the wheels right off my rear axle on my triple axle 34 ft. gooseneck trailer when my brother hit a bump.

Great video, we had a 770 and the power shift was jerky under “no load” but was fine when pulling a load.

We had a 1370 that was fun to run. However, we eventually overhauled both th engine and then the transmission. The engine had a cracked head on the two cylinders at the back of the engine. Neighbor farmer was a good mechnaic, so we picked up a head at the salvage yard and he rebuilt the engine. Eventually, the tranny went out. So it was put on dryer duty and ran it at 1000 RPM as the PTO had to be at 540. Always made sure the PowerShift wasn't in reverse. Compared to running the dryer with the 656 IH that ran on gas, we saved on fuel. Do check the pump if it is turned up. Also, shed some weight if the wheels are filled. The front and rear tires were filled and I think even the Duals were too. I believe our pump was turned up and they had added an ISPRO meter because the exhaust temps needed to be monitored. We bought it used and it came that way, which is maybe why the tranny failed. Hope you have success in the restoration and finding the factory original parts.

It's almost easier to find a good running 504 for it than rebuilding it. Elmer's repair I bet would have a bunch of good running engines for it I bet if you tighten up the linkage on the powershift lever and have it nice and tight and lubed it will shift nicer. They all are jumpy shifting so that's normal.

Remember my uncles 1070 back in the 70's, wouldn't notice the downshift jerk in the field , but coming back to the farm with no pull it would throw you out of the seat unless you throttled down first. Preferred running his 930.
@WithamFamilyFarm Жыл бұрын
The ones that I have been around you had to throttle down in 4th range because of the speed change was a lot between the power-shifts. It’s a noticeable change that even in the gravel you can see where you power-shifted down. Even the 2390 that my Grandpa had was the same way.

On the head gasket issue on my 1370 the air box cover where the filter is its not a really good design, when it rain alot they leak and the rain water goes straight through the air filter into the intake and if enough gets in the water gets on top the pistions, we ran mine all day once shut it down it was fine, it rained overnight about 2 inches we went to get the tractor a couple days later, im the one that got on it when it started with no hesitation but i heard a loud pop then the familiar sound of the bad head gasket where pressure was escaping, so i pulled all 3 heads had them checked and reassembled with new head gaskets, intake and exhaust gaskets and went back with all knew bolts, that air box cover can cause you some major issues, also make certain the brake on your PTO is working if not it will half ass engage and shread the PTO clutches and brake stopping up the sump screen!! ASK ME HOW I KNOW lol😢😊😮

Hey I just got done doing a inframe rebuild on my case 1270 and I found it was way cheaper to buy the components separately then in a large rebuild kit. I was able to buy a set of pistons, sleeves, rings and the sleeve o rings for $500, each individual cylinder was around $91 so if I were you I would definitely look around for parts, you can find some good deals out there.

When you get running good, most powerful tractor of that Era, hands down, more torque n lug than red or green, pull more at 1200 rpm than others do at wide open, 180 hp, excellent field tractor, do not leave Powershift in reverse when doing stationary pto work
@andersjohansson61188 ай бұрын
second that on the leaving powershift in reverse while the tractor is stationary. we had a 1370 and loved running it. I liked running it at lower RPM as it had great pull and at a softer sound. best part is when starting up and hearing turbo softly whistle when letting it idle.
@kb80909kbbbbb Жыл бұрын
Nice video! Have you tighten the cab bolts down on axle of the tractor, that can reduce some cab jerking. Those powershift are made to jerk, if not you have serious problems. I always idle down 1300 r.p.m when pulling a load, it doesn't jerk to much. I think those weights rear inside 450 lbs on each tires. I think Elmer repair can help out alot. I was wondering if change the air breather out yet. Might help out with black smoke .

The cab bushings are shot. Just looked at them. So that may a lot to do with the shifting. As for the air cleaner it’s brand new.

I'd strongly recommend taking it to a shop that specializes fixing case tractors. Possibly a overhaul would be a cheaper way. Youd probably find A used 504 engine from a 2590.

@@WithamFamilyFarm I'm about to check my 1270 if water or antifreeze is leaking out of the drain plug. Worst comes to worst. Its not possible to find a good 451 from the 1270 to swap. There hard to find... im going for a 504 swap... more torgue and power than the 451. I found one from a 2590 and another from the 2290. Im leaning towards the 504 from the 2290 because its closer to the shop. I was told from the shop that they've swap 504s on the 1270s before...
