As a Russian I can say that in fact we did not use google services so often, we had our own alternative - yandex, but due to recent events..🌚 and the actual cessation of normal functioning of google instead of a choice of several services - we got a monopoly of yandex, which used to be one of the alternatives. p.s. I know I can use google, but there are many nuances that make it, if not useless, then extremely difficult. Example: Google Maps stopped updating in Russia p.p.s Not to mention the youtube slowdown and authorization sluggishness

That’s because you have insurance. Drop your insurance and tell the surgeon center you’re a cash payer. Settle on a price(you can argue price just like insurance companies do) and general surgeries will be less than what you pay for in insurance in a year. The only time insurance is a benefit is if you have a major health issues. PCP visits are maybe $10-$15 more than your average copay. Insurance is a scam. I’ve had a double hernia surgery and an appendectomy and out of pocket combined was less than $5,000. Of course this was 7 years ago for hernia and 4 years for appendix. Honestly I'm more likely to download Google's app store rather than my built in Galaxy app store. Ironically enough I get fewer ads on Google's store than the samsung version, which has invasive ads and pop ups. One subtle but important thing that puts the Play Store in a special privileged position on Android is the fact that it can seamlessly automate the installation of software without going through the Android "app installer" app. This permission is reserved exclusively to preinstalled system apps. And I'm not sure there is a way to allow sideloaded apps to automatically update and install apps without lowering the security of the platform due to users being stupid and granting that critical permission to potential malware. Google has good reason to not want this. Especially if Apple doesn't get subjected to identical restrictions. The only real solution is that most people are educated on how to keep their devices safe on their own.
