I love the idea of this game, especially now that my son is old enough to have watched and enjoyed the Goonies movie. I just wish it was pure coop vs an AI, instead of one vs many. Who ever rooted for the Fratellis?

I always get stuck being the DM/GM, and this is the best experience I've ever had. Messing with The Goonies is ridiculously rewarding. Particularly playing cards, thwarting their best laid plans. I'm thinking about retheming it into a Hero Quest game.

4:33 I am sorry but this is incorrect. Most "automated games" can't do that because they do not keep track of where miniatures, meeples, or tiles are once they are placed on the board. But of course one could design an app that does so. Especially with this board where you already have to interact with some passages (the dangerous ones). It's simply that app designers think that players (prefer) keep(ing) track on the game board or maybe they are told by the game designers or producers to not waste time and effort in this department. What I usually dislike about 1-vs.-many games is a disruption in the story telling: Randomness of card draw is meant to ensure replayability while token economic is meant to ensure balance. But once you played a couple games you probably ran into a situatione where either the "DM" only drew weird combinations or had to choose between the thematic fit and the most challenging option... probably to "save him from loosing the game". From what I have seen so far there appears to be also a thematic and mechanical oversight in this game. The teens are meant to be support characters apparently because they were cut from the playable roster. (With people even claiming that you could only play the "original" goonies. I have only seen the movie a couple of times but I believe to remember that Mikey's speech at the wishing well did include Brand, Andy, and Steph and not only from there on out.) What I find weird is that not all characters have their support equivalent. If you play a 2 sorry a 3 player game, one player giving the GM and two Goonies, only two of the kids go on an adventure or even only one kid and Sloth. But the teens are always around to help. Shouldn't the support mechanic include either include all members of the party or let you select those that accompany you on your adventure from the full roster?

Gonna have to disagree with you on the replayability brother. As a GM, this game has an infinite replayability if played as a campaign with different groups of people.

I think I’m gonna have to pass on this one, although the production looks great. The cool thing about some of these lighter games that are showing up at target is that they are perfect for younger kids getting into board games. I can see a grandma picking up this game on a whim for a birthday present and sparking a young kids interest in board games. It seems light enough for a group of kids to learn but with much more choice and agency than typical mass market games.
