@ayngelina2 жыл бұрын
So after posting this video today a lot of people pointed me to the President's announcement of state of exception, which was in the provinces of Guayas, Manabi and Esmeraldas. I hope I've provided a balanced view here. We were constantly asking locals about our next step and sometimes we had to change plans, because I always have crazy ideas of spots where I heard a dish was amazing. But locals really helped us out and were honest about things. You do need to be careful, it's not like the Azuay province. BUT...Esmeraldas is big! And even in this state of exception it's not the places I've featured. It's so similar to Guayaquil where you can safely visit and enjoy some areas and some you should not visit. And even in Quito there are neighborhoods you should just not visit. But for some reason.....Esmeraldas really gets painted poorly as a whole. I would absolutely go back. We were sad to leave. You cannot beat the food and beaches.

Thank you for a great video. How is the housing prices in Esmeralda compared to example Manta or Olon? Is Ecuador spicy as spicy as in Mexico or a little less spicy?
@ayngelina2 жыл бұрын
To be honest I’m not sure what housing prices are like because I don’t recommend buying there. It is far better to rent long term. As for food it’s not spicy at all. On the table you’ll find aji, which is s hot sauce so you add spice but the actual food is not spicy. Hope this helps!
@magnusb63112 жыл бұрын
@@ayngelina OK thank you on the spicyness. Why recomended not to buy there? I mean, when I first get there I will rent, but long term...?
@ayngelina2 жыл бұрын
Real estate doesn’t appreciate like in Canada and the US. It’s better to get a long term rental and invest money elsewhere. You can get luxury condos for under $1000 easily that are furnished. And then if you decide you don’t like the apartment or area as much as another, which is very common with expats, it’s easy to get up and leave.
@magnusb63112 жыл бұрын
@@ayngelina Hi Ayngelina, I am not Canadian or a Gringo, I am from Sweden. Properties go up in value here to but my reason to buy is not to gain property value but to simply own my own place without having to go by anyones rules. I am a ham and want to do whatever I want with antennas, towers and the like. I absolutely follow you on renting first, I will definatly do that, and travel around before I deceide where I will stay. But when I know where I want to live, it will be a small beach town for sure. Preferably close to Manta, just not in Manta.
@ayngelina2 жыл бұрын
You might want to look at Santa Mariantita, or San Jacinto (I have a video from here) but you should definitely go down and do a tour first. Most expats don't make it past a year because they are unprepared for cultural differences. Although Ecuador is amazing, it's not perfect and Latin America works very different compared to other areas of the world. The general rule is to wait at least a year before buying. Those who don't are often left with properties they paid too much for that they then need to unload to other foreigners.

Seen all the tracks on the beach. What are the rules about driving on the beaches in Ecuador. Is it local rules? Cars not allowed but 4-wheelers and off road motorcycles ok? Or what are the rules?
@ayngelina2 жыл бұрын
Those are actually police vehicles patrolling in Esmeraldas, you cannot drive on the beach. You can drink on the beach unless there are signs that say you cannot for example the main beach in Salinas.

Hey ayngelina you said mangrove tour was 250 is that 250 usd? Or what currency or is it 2.50 pp
