"Murray" is "The Murray River" that forms the border between New South Wales and Victoria. It's a big river. "Malee" is a region that sits along the upper part of The Murray River. That's why the bottle states that the rye is grown on one farm that sits in the Murray Malee region. It's hot, dry country

I haven't had the Straight Rye but love their Solera, for me it's one that really showcases the grain. Reminds me of that dark dense bread my folks would chew on, it's the only Rye I've had bringing that memory. Thanks for posting!

Can some one explain what is solera and the difference? I'm drinking the solera right now and I am so surprised of the sweet smoothness. Definitely not what I was expecting from a high proof rye. Very pleasant

45 euro and 90 aud seems about fair for price. The solera cask reminds me a bit of bladnoch 11 wine Finish, very heavy wine with a bit of funk for me.

I have not seen the solera here in Germany

Prefer Canadian rye to American “Bourbonesque” rye whiskey. Here Braunschweiger is called Liverwurst or just Liver sausage. Godspeed on your new venture..!!!

I'm just starting out on my Rye journey and, so far, I've not tried anything Non-US yet. The first bottle that got me hooked was 1776 Barrel Proof Rye. I bought it mainly because it's cask strength and also because I was curious about Rye. My first impression was, wow!. It's a real powerhouse of flavour with such intense spicyness and fruityness. Looking forward to trying others but I've not found anything that quite beats it yet...

Jason, thanks for reviewing The Gospel 'Straight Rye' from my home town, Melbourne! Amazing that you found it in Deutschland. They're good boys, making good Aussie rye whisky. I've got the 'Solera' sub-2 YO (AUD$75), the 'Straight' 2 YO (AUD$80, on discount), and the 'Single Cask' (AUD$125). For reference: Bulleit Rye 45% ABV is AUD$60 and Lot 40 43% ABV is AUD$75+. FYI: Brunswick is a "hipster" suburb in Melbourne just north of where Starward is situated. The Gospel boys are cool, I can vouch for that. They sent me a free t-shirt :-)

Interesting to hear about this business venture of yous Jason. I appreciate that the U.K is persona non grata in much of the EU but I hope you will find some form of distribution to us poor souls. Favourite non US/Canadian rye has to be the Dutch Millstone 100.
