"The post made by an ex employee who was a DEV of TC-Helicon, the company released their Canada support department who was working on a version of the GOXLR software to be compatible with Linux and Mac. After the team got fired, a DEV went on to say that the GOXLR software will no longer be getting support and the post picked up steam on social media forcing TC-Helicon to release a statement on their twitter page letting people know a few things: From TC-Helicon's Twitter post: -Your GoXLR is not Dead! -Their gaming product line will still get support. -Its true that they released their Canada team but doesnt mean they are no longer supporting the software, just means they are changing dev teams. The DEV who made the post with the news of the team getting fired created a discord and has now released an open source version of the software which is a carbon copy of the original GoXLR software with additional features. People in the discord are allegedly making donations for said DEV to keep working on the software for future Windows Updates. Not sure what the legalities of using a proprietary software to be released as open source when TC-Helicon is still selling GoXLR Minis and GoXLR on their site and on Amazon, you would think if it was discontinued it would be pulled from those sites. Something to note here, the GOXLR has NOT had an update in a about a year and a half and its still working just fine...so dont jump the gun just yet and wait for TC-Helicon to actually say that they wont support the product any longer before you go out and spend hundreds of dollars on new hardware. Now, say that TC-Helicon doesnt come through with their support and your GoXLR no longer works...then look at the second option which is the DEV who released the open source software...again, not sure what the legalities of that is as of right now since TC-Helicon has not officially discontinued products and they are still being sold...but just keep your options open. If neither one of those options work, then yes, take a look at this video and purchase a new piece of hardware that offers you the best options and that is within your budget...but dont buy something before a final announcement has been made by the company, your GoXLR may still have plenty of years to go." This is a comment from @madskizophrenik, I'm just passing it on.

This really makes me think badly of TC Helicon as a company. They put out THE audio device for streamers, youtubers, podcasters, etc. and absolutely *dominated* the market right from the start. And now, they're just like "yeah, who cares?" Wow. I'll use my GoXLR until I can't anymore, because I love the damn thing. I'll be sad to have to replace it, but I appreciate Harris for showing us all these options.
@Icessassin Жыл бұрын
they make mostly hardware not software, once the have sold a hardware product they don't have to do anything to support the customer unless that product breaks in the warranty period. Software probably gave them high overheads as they would have had to have kept a team or even a single developer to keep the thing working.

I'm personally using a Rode PodMic hooked up to a Yamaha ZG01 in tandem with a Stream Deck Plus. I was using a Wave:3 for a while, and I absolutely fell in love with the Wave:Link suite, but I ultimately wanted an XLR setup and had my eye on the GoXLR for years. Ultimately, I was your review that convinced me to go for the ZG01 instead. The biggest draws for me were the onboard output swapping between headphones and speakers, surround sound emulation through stereo, and the integrated HDMI Switcher. My monitors at my desk are only 1080p, so I don't need to worry about the limitations of HDMI 2.0 for the passthrough. As for audio routing, I have all my game audio coming directly through the Game output to take advantage of surround sound, while all other audio passes through Wave Link. I can then adjust the levels of each channel as I see fit, then send the monitor mix to the ZG01, while also still keeping the Stream Mix that goes to OBS.

That was something the goxlr did that to my knowledge no other device does without having to jump through hoops. As somebody who does not care about streaming but plays primarily on pc it would be nice to have a device that could route my audio from my consoles and pc all to one output so I could hear it at once. Outside of the goxlr I don't know of one that does and maybe one of the ones in this video work that way but its never brought up and there is no documentation online to suggest it will work. Interesting. This is exactly why I like oldschool mixers with USB interfaces Like the Mackie Pro FX series, Behringer Xynex series, or the Yamaha MGXU series. They don't have as many streamer specific functions but they will last a very very long time because they are just audio interfaces. dual functionality because they are also fully functional mixers without a computer so they can be sold easily. Truth be told, I am a little curious about Mackies new M-caster series that they just released. Looks a lot more affordable than the DLZ and more simple. The M-Game RGB mixers also look interesting. There's one specifically for two PC setups and one for solo setups. I've not seen the brand before but it would seem that they know a thing or two about what streamers are trying to achieve. But I don't know much about the brand as a whole. Traditional audio is more in my skillset.

As an audio guy I would say go with Rode, Mackie, Yamaha, Tascam, or even Behringer if you are on a budget. I have used all of these brands though not their streaming focused tools. The reason I recommend these companies however is they have been around for a while and music audio focused companies tend to support their products just about forever. Though it will also depend on how much you want to learn the hardware and how much direct software integration you need. There are few all in one options from these brands and some of the ones that are out there are pricy. Though if you dont mind a few extra devices on your desk then they all have a huge array of mixer options for all budgets to chose from that you can pair with some form of macro pad like the stream deck (which is really all it is with some focused software support). One thing to look out for though with audio company hardware is the USB interfaces. If it has a USB-C you are likely good with that one but if they are USB-A many of them will likely be 2.0 (and rarely 1.0) unless they are very new products, or it actually says otherwise. Also be sure to look up what a device actually does as there are may DAW controllers that look like they would do what a stream deck and mixer would do but they can only control a DAW and likely will not allow you to do what you are looking for. Though may still be useful when you editing your audio for none live videos.

The funny part is you could always have faders in the past. Example for me is the Soundcraft MTK12 (or 22 if you need), which is a 12 channel (6 pair stereo) mixer. This is "old" by your standards but is ana amazing pro level board and was prices in the $350 range when it came out. Every channel, every mix, and every output shows up in windows as it's own audio source both in and out. It's insane. I use it to run two PCs (gaming and recording), with condenser microphones, patching to both discord and game chat from the same mic(s), sound source from either PC for backgorund music and what have you, including patching in discord chat and others... and effects loop, mix minus options, and so on. GoXLR and others are the "simple" choices, but not always the most flexible choices.

Used it prior to even hearing about GoXLR and prefer it over my GoXLR Mini. The LPD8 MkII has 8 volume knobs that you can set up to be used with VoiceMeeter and it's audio channels and it has 8 pads that can be set up to use VoiceMeeter that you can set up for macros, or mute certain audio channels.

When I was looking for a good audio device about six months ago, I wanted the GoXLR, but it seemed like it was going to be axed soon, so I looked for alternatives. I went with the RODECaster Pro II. It had more packed into it than I'll ever use, but it is phenomenal. A few months after I bought it, RODE announced the RODECaster Duo. That is more the size of what I would need, but wasn't going to deal with selling my RCP2 and buying the Duo. So I'm still using the RCP2 and love it.

Thank you for the advise. I'm still new to the streaming/content creator world and me personally, I think I'll benefit from the BEACN audio mixer but, I'm also going to look at getting the BEACN mic. Now, I need to find a 2nd camera, which I believe you have a video on. You're my go to when it comes to streaming/content creator set up advise.

For my first streaming PC, El Gato Facecam, Wave 1 Mic, and StreamElements have plenty of features for me to do my simple stream with plenty of digital updates to keep me learning. I'm more than happy with these three tools several years later still 👍

I'm glad when I was buying equipment a couple of years ago, I did not buy the GOXLR. I purchased a Berhringer X1204USB mixing board. Seemed complex at first but now it mixes audio from 2 pc's and other inputs no problem.

I too am using the M Game Dual RGB. The software is indeed clunky, the tuning features leave a LOT to be desired, voice changer is mid, and did desync before replacing a stock usb. That being said, the routing format is simple, you get 10 sample pads you can customize and change on the fly, seperate audio sliders, multi function mute button, censor button, 48V power, and you get to customize the RGB to your hearts content. I'll continue to use it hearing this news as i was planning for a goXLR

I sold my GoXLR a year ago after seeing not one update for it. Knew it was going to flop. Moved to RodeCaster Pro 2 and loved it. Recently picked up the new RodeCaster Duo and am now using it. Highly recommend! Excellent quality and Rode actively pushes meaningfully firmware updates.

Rode is by far the best audio company out there. Every time my mic has ever had a problem Rode always sends me the fix free of charge, namely the boom arm & mounting clamps since they are plastic. They have always had GREAT customer support. Highly recommend Rode for everyone.

Well, glad I found this vid. I built a second box for streaming and after scrambling my brain for 2 days and dealing with abysmal on board audio of the stream pc I was just about to pull the trigger on a go xlr. I wondered why I was seeing them on ebay for $200.

The Stream deck in general is a great production tool. Since i don't stream or anything, I use it for my DAW (Reaper) as a controller, to control transport and other small things (one button click, instead of moving the mouse/keyboard) while i play my instruments.

I was looking and looking for something to really fit my need to replace my GOXLR mini, from the space saver, with the sliders, but nothing that got me excited from the top companies to want me to move yet, so it looks like Ill be riding this train until the end. Thanks for amazing videos, and ill be on the look out for future videos reviews - Side Note: I joined Tangia (SOOOO SICK), great add on for my Stream

For Podcasting, I use a Zoom H6 (with the Exh6 combo, to give me a total of 6 inputs) with 4 SM57's (with A2WS pop filters) and a bunch of table top stands from Neewer. I then have 2 SM58s or some AKG condenser overheads if I need more mics for people. For live stage shows I utilise the same system with the Rode wireless Go 2 to send it to the camera and have a backup of the recording, I then have a second Rode Wireless Go 2 system if there are extra people or if I want to get some mics on people that will be moving around a lot. If I have something like a full band that requires lots of inputs and in ear monitors I use a Behringer XR18.

The Problem with brands like Fifine or Beacn is, that they are still not available for purchase here in Germany. I am not one for order in the US or other countries, simply not the biggest fan of that. I wanted to check out the Beacn stuff a while ago, but couldnt find it anywhere here. Not even now, and I already checked quite some time ago. If these companies really want to expand, they have to come across the pond and not only within the US. Just my 2 cents. The Mackie i find interesting, having myself RRCP2. But i love that big screen on the mackie. ^^ I also use Mackie mixers for a long time, and its great to see they also go a little bit more modern nowadays. Nice video, very informative. Thanks a lot.

UA Apollo Heritage Solo - unlike other interfaces it has zero latency and it does all its processing keeping it off your CPU - This is a better pick for musician types but works well for gamers and streamers. If you use Intel based systems that have Thunderbolt 3. Yamaha AG08 - Their newest and simplest yet - this is made for basically everyone Streamers and musicians also works well with the previous one together in a chain to add more inputs while still getting the benefits of both. Scarlet 4i4 - Basic but still works as an interface. Ideally when you start out you want something under $200, when you get more $500, as you upgrade gear you might eventually get to that $1k mark.

Currently running a Clarett+4Pre (upgraded from Presonus Audiobox USB 96) with primary control being fed through a Streamdeck+ controlling wavelink. The wavelink ecosystem has been a godsend for simplicity and power, even as someone who is from the pro-audio world (both in live and studio production). While certainly, there are objectively better solutions out there, those solutions cost just as much as you'd imagine them to (getting into the higher end of 5 digits there, my friend). So what I have, hell, even going Presonus or Scarlett, will provide you a powerful suite for live content creation. The biggest wish I have from Elgato is adding a streamdeck with faders and more dedicated audio control, especially if it can be compatible with DAWs like Ableton or Pro Tools. Faders are a lifeblood and it is really hard to be without them XD

TLDR: I use an ATEM Mini Extreme ISO by Blackmagic Design (BMD), which handles both my audio and video. I accidentally posted this as a reply and not as a separate comment, so here we go. The built-in Fairlight audio mixer is phenomenal. That’s not even getting to the video features and capabilities, especially when combined with DaVinci Resolve for editing (the free version is the one of the best editing software out there, *regardless* of cost, and is jam-packed with powerful tools). That said, I do need a separate preamp (DBX 286s) and Cloudlifter for my SM7B, so this isn’t the cheap option by any means. Although ATEMs are probably overkill for most people, especially if you’re just starting out, they’re actually a tremendous value when you consider how powerful they are. For an easy and obvious example, compare the Elgato HD60 X ($200 for one HDMI input) to the intro BMD ATEM Mini Pro ($295 for 4 HDMI inputs, one HDMI output, two mic inputs, one USB out, the built-in audio mixer, a built-in hardware streaming engine to livestream via Ethernet, etc, etc). BMD is a company for industry professionals. For perspective, colorist Tashi Trieu used DaVinci Resolve Studio to color grade James Cameron's “Avatar: The Way of Water” (interview on BMD’s website in the media archive from January 12, 2023). For a good introduction on ATEMs, I recommend Tom Buck. For more serious/commercial applications, you can’t beat Aaron Parecki, in my opinion. He usually does a Q&A livestream on KZbin every Sunday. I’m really shocked that BMD products haven’t caught on with streamers, at least the really big ones, because the power and quality is a undeniable. It’s what you’d expect to see in a professional production (although not in a humble, amateur home studio). To be fair, I wanted a goXLR when they first came out and even recently considered adding one to my workflow (for a second microphone). Obviously, I’m now very glad I never did.

Welcome aboard, I bought mine less than a month ago and then I got the Discord message when I had already set it up, bought an GLI for my wireless headphones, etc. I feel they did something extremely dirty to their customers and KZbinrs are just brushing it off like everybody had the money to spare for such a "High-end" piece of hardware and it's sickening to me.

Also for the Alternatives, don't go for BEACN.... With my experience I've had the Microphone cause the software to crash just because I accidently bump it or even move the microphone to a different position, I do rate their support, they were very helpful and sent out another microphone as well as a free cable just to see if that was at fault, the issue still happens, even when I upgraded my pc, It's still happening to this date... just now infact, even with their software it's slow as anything and dragging the window of the app is like moving at 10 fps.

I liked the look and options with the Rodecaster Pro 2, so I ordered it. I don't have any experience with anything except Wave XLR which worked good, but wanted something a bit more as my wife and I are streaming together.. It had USB 1 (main), USB 1 (chat), USB 2 so I figured I could select the sources and separate them in OBS like I can with the Wave XLR. I was wrong. In order to separate the sources and multitrack you need ASIOAll, then then the configuration which I thought would be easier ended up being a pain to separate out my Game, System, Discord, Music audio. It has "virtual mixers" but those mixers are still based overall on the physical inputs (XLR 1, 2, 3, 4, USB1, USB2, Bluetooth, Midi) and that was it. After 3 days of trying to get it to work, I gave up. I ended up ordering a GoXLR on sale, got it overnight, and had it set up in less than an hour with all the setup options that I needed. If I didn't have an XLR mic, I might have considered Beacon or other alternatives.

I'm using the M-game dual. Its awesome, it provides most if not all the features the GOXLR has plus it has a port for a foot switch for macro control! Only issues are that the software is a little clunky and it desyncs with my stream PC occasionally and I have to turn it on and off. (it doesn't do this with my game Pc so it seems like its my end not the device)
