MOST IMPORTANT THING that wasn't mentioned... ALL 2025 models including this Hakone will have refreshed tuning for better throttle blipping for rev match/heel toe shifting. The biggest one is the retuning of the power steering. It won't feel so electronically assisted which was the biggest gripe about this new gen 86's, you will actually have more feel of the road which is big for track folks.

We’ll see how this actually feels. The throttle is already too sensitive, so the way they describe the new throttle tuning does not sound good. If Toyota gives the steering less assistance I will be a happy boy.

Id like to try it. The 2024 model is already a weapon and pretty easy to heal toe. I have no issues with it. The color green should have been an option on all years. Looks really good in that color. Color options are the only fail on this car. I had a m235i. It was faster but you could feel the weight in corners still amazing. 86 similar in steering feel to the m235 in sport mode.

That British Racing Green-type color just works so well on the GR86 BRZ FR-S body style. I need this car in my life.

I got on the list for hakone edition as a first spot at msrp only dealer as soon as toyota announced it. I also have 23 gr86 pmt manual that i will be trading it in to save on the taxes. Only put 1600mi for over a year ownership since I have other cars in rotation. I craved brembo and sachs damper option for 24s but this green pushed me over to trade mine in.

This color look different in every video I've seen on it. I think the video quality is most accurate in the Kelley Blue Book video. Looks dim and orangey here but happy to see this video, you certainly understand this car much better than other auto journos who it seems are being forced to cover a car they don't really appreciate.

I shot this in a few minutes after shooting the GR Corolla. I didn't have time to shoot on my cinema camera, so this was just done quickly with minimal color correction. When I get a press car, I'll do some proper photography and put it up against my personal red GR86 so you can see the differences.

Such a beautiful car and color combo. I think silver calipers would have suited it, but overall, just so hot!

Damn that green is sick!! Another thing I noticed - Not sure if this is true for the Trueno or not, but the HVAC controls are all blacked out on the Hakone. On my '23 they're all silver.

Pls report back. The dealers go insane anytime there’s a “rare” option. Went thru so much BS finding a GRC, bought used private market and was so thankful to avoid dealers. Private sales they’ll probably put this on BAT for $60k tho… (being negative hopefully it’s better than this guess)

@@joncaseyclary Most of the dealers I spoke to either didn’t know what the Hakone edition was (probably thought I was trolling them) or just “put my name down” (whatever that means). Only 1 dealer agreed to take a $1k deposit & they claim they’ll sell it to me at msrp with no addons (so let’s see if they’ll keep their word).

It actually does have a pearlescent effect. You can see it in the Kelley Blue Book video on the car. Right at the very start of the video the cameraman is zoomed in very close to show it. At longer distances it becomes less noticeable and the car appears darker. Very interesting paint but I'm not sure how I'll actually feel about it until I see it myself.

I have to disagree. Not because of the green paint but the bronze wheels. Yellow calipers and bronze wheels would be very odd together. Even the gold calipers the BRZ tS has wouldn't work here. I think they could have gone with black or silver calipers. but I like the red anyway as it gives the car more 'pop'.

I have a 24 model with manual, it hits my need for speed perfectly fine. feels faster than it is, and if it had more hp, it wouldn't be as fun imo can't wind it out as much

The issue is they need some product separation between the three GR cars. If a turbo model was $40-43K instead of $32k for the Premium would you buy it? It’s not *just* a turbo. It’s potentially a different transmission, different LSD, bigger brakes etc. And they would have to get a separate EPA certification too. All for a few thousand cars per year. I’ve heard rumors about an up coming extra special edition, but nothing specific.

@@revmatchtv I mean i definitely see your point of view , but at the same time putting a turbo into one of them would just void the whole warranty, which would be nice if they would actually come factory installed . I guess both have pros & cons 🤓

@@mannyburciaga6506 It’s possible we will see more power, and I could definitely see a special handling package, maybe some kind of suspension and wheel package, but I think it would be quite expensive, and the market for it limited. I guess we’ll see next year?

That's not tan, that's orange! It's the same interior as on my MT 2023 GR86 10th Anniversary Edition. I'm in PA... anyone looking to put a dep down on this Hakone, Team Toyota in Glenn Mills sells at MSRP. As someone else here mentioned, dealerships typically don't even know what this is because it's a limited edition. When I called to make a deposit on mine, they took it and promised at MSRP before they even knew what it was. I waited probably the better part of a year and then they had to do a factory swap out to get it in MT, because they were only allocated one AT. I also had to stand firm to get a lower interest rate to finance, then just ended up paying it off within a few months anyway, since the interest rates were super high when it finally came in. But I love it ! Fun little car, only 4k on it so far. Did Toyota's free track day at NJ Motorsports Speedway. That was a blast! (Only advice; if you're gonna use your free NASA track day, be sure to get track tires instead of shredding the great Michelins that come on it. Barely leaves the garage. Another dealer just offered 10K over MSRP. No thanks! Hoping it will keep appreciating.
