Was always thinking these replicas were out of price range for me, but in my opinion $250 for a replica with this accuracy and full flash electronics, I was absolutely stunned. I’m definitely going to invest in a replica and some of the parts to make the ANH saber, if I can.

Thank you for the review. Will the Makers Prop red button thread into the TGS gen 2?
@EastCoastSabers6 жыл бұрын
Yes, but I don't think it will with the bulb socket assembly in place, since the internals of the MPS are not designed to be a functional switch. But rather used to activate a micro switch in a saber. But the threading should match.

It’s a million times better in almost every aspect. The one downside is that it’s slightly harder to install

Kinda surprise you didn’t noticed the warping down around the button and eye glass bumb, you can see the light warping too
@EastCoastSabers5 жыл бұрын
As mentioned in other replies, I didn't mention it because it's such a small imperfection (one that many vintages also share) that it is easy to not pick up on. I'm guessing you saw someone mention it in another video or one of the groups, they made it out to be a big deal and then you started looking for it. If you don't know it's there, chances are you will never see it. Or unless the light hits it just right. I own several Gen2's and I've worked on dozens and still can't see it unless I'm actually looking for it.

This may seem like weird question, but whats the internal diameter of main/outter shell? I've been looking to make a saber using this kit, but I'm thinking of using some TCSS pieces and wanted to compare the measurements. Thanks to anyone who can answer!

Any chance of doing a new set of build videos using this product?
@EastCoastSabers6 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, no. I don't have nearly the time nor money to put into a new series of that size. And with so many options out there for chassis, I wouldn't even know which one to do. The original series was easy because at the time there really was only one option for the 2.0

If you can, could you do a review on the Graflex shop saber kit and how it’s different from all the other Graflex replicas
@EastCoastSabers5 жыл бұрын
The "Saber kit" from TGS is basically a scratch and dent version of their original Gen1 flash, though most people have a hard time finding any blemishes. See my review of their Gen1 for details. The saber kit however features a better finish thanks to better plating, as well as accurate dull finishes on the beer tab and slide switch plate. The Saber Kit also comes with 1" blade holder and appropriate sync pins + tabs and thumbscrews. The new flash replica (Gen2) is an empty flash with the option for full replica internals. It also has more accurate stamping on both the clamp and the end cap.

No offense to Roman but the TGS V2 and Maker Prop studios Graflex are number one but just marginally lol. But it is nice that we have four high quality replica Graflex and choices. Roman is still king of the Obi-Wan Anh and ROTS.
@mexicanakinskywalker67626 жыл бұрын
how does this compare to romans gen 2.0?
@Zeaiclies6 жыл бұрын
The Roman's is very good but it has had some plating issues. It just depends on what you want and if you want a perfect replica of a somewhat not so perfect because you want a weathered and beat up look for your prop. Not a dig or dis against Roman at all. His is a great replica Graflex.

how do you get your bunny ears to stop moving?
@EastCoastSabers5 жыл бұрын
Before installing the ears, take a pair of toothless needle nose pliers and VERY slightly bend the two tabs in towards each other. Then install the bunny ears. This will put extra friction on the ears and keep them a bit stiffer and stop them from rattling, while still allowing them to move.

I think right now the full functionality flash is $225 but might go up to $250 but goto www.thegraflexshop.com and check

So you don’t really put this on a camera?
@EastCoastSabers5 жыл бұрын
You can if you want to. If you buy the flash with replica internals they are fully functioning and are fully compatible with vintage Graflex cameras. Personally, no. I use them to make lightsabers.

They are currently sold out of their Gen2 replicas, which is reviewed here. You most likely purchased one of their blemished kits or a "1.9" which is a mashup of old Gen1 parts and Grade B new parts.
