Too bad about the simplification of the internals. There were some really cool things people could do to make "Scrapflex" and other designs...

Hey! Really beautiful build! I’m working on my own currently and have applied aluminum black on the sanded and refinished denix parts, but mine’s been turning out to blotchy and brownish with some blue tones. Did yours take multiple coats or am I doing something wrong?

my grandfather owned an original graflex flash since he used to be a professional photographer after the war, unfortunately i never got it after my nan -passed away, this is so similar i might get one just to have a memento, i love vintage cameras, and star wars, but mostly vintage cameras

Great analysis and review of this fine piece. You mentioned in the video if desired, the finish can be slightly shined with some polish. Conversely, if I’m looking to dull the finish on a piece that is a bit too shiny for my liking, what would be the best way to accomplish a duller finish to match what is shown here in your video? I know you said Scotchbrite for a small area like the clamp but for the entire flashgun body would that create uneven and crooked lines?
@marker202 жыл бұрын
Any idea if you can rotate the end cap on this? My biggest gripe with the one I recently got is that the end cap and Kobold clip is lined up with the bunny ears and not the clamp.

A bit of a tip for those without smooth headed pliers or are worried about scratching the finish: simply wrap your plier ends with electrical tape which will prevent any scratching.

Hi, Matt! I know that this video is older and that my question is off-topic, but I have it nonetheless. So, lets say that I want to make my graflex into a lightsaber. I have all the parts and my blade holder. I bought everything from the Graflex shop. The red button should have a little plunger system in it. Would I be able to get away with wiring a microswitch through the red button side of the blade holder, and threading in the red button on top in order to make the red button my activation switch?

Those are 4-40 holes for you to use some way to hold your neopixel or led in on the side under the glass eye socket. In case anyone wanted to know. You need a set screw so that you can slide it all back in.

How much would you charge for an install? Like this build but using the goth3designs knight chassis? I’d like to have that one because I can install a crystal reveal in it so I’d like to put leds on that as well
@TYNTD3 жыл бұрын
"I'm not going to explain installing the clip its very basic" Yeah, because we have use a milling machine or carve out a channel for a steel part. SO much easier than gluing grips on. Pshhh.

This looks like it is very helpful. I have an old force FX lightsaber (like the ones you used to see at the mall) that I got for my 13th birthday way back in 2008 which still works and everything. Is it possible to gut out all of its default electronics, remove the LED blade and install the electronics used in this video? I understand that I could just buy the graflex used in this video, but I just want to use my old one for sentimental value. Thank you.
@andrewc28023 жыл бұрын
There are conversion kits available on thecustomsabershop.com. you can purchase it and it's a blade holder and LED heatsink so it shouldn't be too hard to go between this tutorial and translate it into a force fx conversion.
