5:05 the background thing about Caroline Polachek is that her last album, Desire, I Want To Turn Into You, featured a motif of a volcano and she also had a huge volcano prop during the tour. So the dress also sort of looks like a volcano (or rather lava) erupting out of her upper chest. Edit: The volcano is supposed to represent the desire that she wanna turns into. It represents her desires that are burning under the surface and are ready to explode, desires she wanna let out. I just saw an interview where she sort of confirmed that the dress is supposed to play into the whole album thing and signal that she indeed turned into desire in the end. The title is double entendre, I HIGHLY suggest everyone to listen to it because it’s EXTREMELY good album.

Because she’s the awkward girl. She’s never going to be a diva. Her grand tour costumes are made to perform in, so when she switches to fashion for shows it’s always a little odd, it’s the Taylor thing. I think time is always a factor. She’s busy, she’s not going to take the time to spend weeks with a designer for a single event, and Taylor isn’t the type to make people fall over themselves for her. I had my colours done many years ago, so found out why I used to think that something wasn't right when I wore certain ones, especially black. One of my problems with Taylor’s styling (and come @ me) is that I’m convinced she does most of her styling herself. She chooses her hair and make up style for reasons known only to her - plus the accessory choices are just… why. Ultimately, the outfits are probably made by her (overwhelming) direction… and there’s a reason she’s never been considered a style icon. I’m not sure where a lot of her taste comes from. It’s a strange mish mash of $$$ brands, sparkles, and some very basic ideas of what fashion is. She does a great regular street style look - but it’s very rare that you see her in anything groundbreaking. Her classic looks have worked best. Her most flattering red carpet moments are normally Oscar de la Renta. I’ve seen her in very few red carpet looks where every element of her look was top notch from head to toe (but that Grammy Oscar look lives in my head rent free).

I'm surprised at everyone's surprise. Taylor is your basic blonde winner. Best at everything and blah blah blah *snore* ... an unchallenged character is an uninteresting character. She does not make interesting creative choices because she's never been limited and therefore pushed to make do. I could name only 2 of her songs because they all wash over me as generic pop, whereas I know every word of every Bowie song from 1969 to 1989, and a few after his hey day too. And that's not because he's male, it's because he wasn't always male.

Moire is a difficult fabric to look after ! It is often silk / polyester. The fabric is just plain fabric. put through very heavy metal rollers with the moire patter etched on it, so that the effect is pressed onto the fabric. It looks lovely, but if you get it wet ! The fabric goes back to its original texture and the moire effect disappears !!!
