I wouldn’t say that we cannot *understand* their love. Tiamat comes across to me as any mother going through ‘Empty Nest Syndrome’. Rather, if that love were embraced, they would *accidentally* (sometimes intentionally), lead to the destruction or stagnation of humanity as a whole. Case in point, had Tiamat prevailed in Babylonia, she would exterminate/mutate the entire human population across the globe into those Lahmu, and we would lose our humanity as a result of becoming her ideal little children. That is Gil authentic to his legends, before Enkidu he hardly took an interest in affairs looking down upon others with apathy. Then meeting Enkidu lit a spark in him and Gil essentially finally 'lived' having met and made a friend whom he could emphasize and bond with. The Gil of the three fate routes finds nobody worthy of his respect apart from Iskandar at his final charge, the Kotomine serves as an experiment in human psyche but certainly not a friend in a shared struggle. The Gil here lending one of his treasure blades is that fine demonstration of the 'living' Gil shod of that signature self absorbed pride having found himself invested and bonded with his allies in the long struggle. In short there are two identities Gilgamesh can feature aside from Caster / Archer classing those being the Prideful lonely at the top king of Heros and the Hero King who stands proud with his friends at his side.

Basically, in Babylonia there's a stage where you have to fight WAVES of Ushiwakamaru (who's been corrupted by Tiamat), you fight three at a time and they spam their NPs, also use dodge. They a very annoying, exhausting and hard fight.

Tiamat was honestly probably very well understood when she was first slain. Removing her from the equation simply was the best option for life, as much as it pained her. She was even holding back when she first manifested in this battle, because while her instincts sought to birth life again as a mother she knew her existing children would be wiped out in the process. It was the Chaldea group nuking her brain that made things worse. Children need to be able to fend for themselves and grow at some point. Tiamat understood that, rationally, she just wasn't emotionally okay with it and her function as a god did not allow her to do otherwise. Only those who love humanity in such a misguided fashion that they threaten it become Beasts, and her death was necessary no matter how unfortunate it was. Understanding her doesn't change the problem; she dies or we all do.

Something that flies over a lot of heads is Gil just casually tossing Fujimaru that Rule Breaker looking dagger. Gilgamesh, especially in Fate, is a greedy motherf*cker. He will wield his weapons for his own purpose and never for another, the only time one touches his weapons is when it pierces their flesh. Even with all this, that he gives Fujimaru one of his weapons is unheard of and just goes to show how much respect the king has for him. It's only outdone by the gift Gil gives him later on...

I went nuts the first time I saw this ep back when it came out. I loved Babylonia! This was one of my favorite Fate series, & favorite anime series I’ve seen overall. I love how Fate always has killer epic & intense affects, but also the most overwhelming intense sounds affects for the attacks! They make it seem as powerful & overpowering as the are meant to be & should be! The bass added to the massive attacks just really sell it as a whole. Gil’s EA to defeat her not only looked like the most powerful intense attack, it genuinely sounded like it too! I love how they made the sounds match the power. Fucking stellar!

tiamat was sealed in the imaginary number space (an ever expanding and contracting multi-dimensional prison) by her original children because her existence alone threatens the established order of life in the cosmos. she knows that she must not exist in normal reality because of that but cant help it because its her nature. tiamat let herself be sealed to spare her children and when goetia summoned a fraction of her to this singularity she actively nerfed and constantly damaged herself so she could be defeated. that contradiction in her nature to create life and her feelings to protect life is what caused her to become the beast of regression.
