Trev's Travels By Narrowboat We are mid-way through our boat rebuild. It’s also a 70’ cruiser that we intend to live on on our return from HK. Unlike yourself, I’ve two kids to house. We have gone for sealed cabins for privacy. The 70ers make great homes if you do it right. If you wish, my email is... jushayward@gmail.com and I’ll send some pics of progress and see what you think. I get the no fire thing; however diesel fires are much cleaner- we have a wood burner are the moment. Our cabin will be at the stern and I’m thinking of putting a small one in there. Fortunately our heating system is diesel fired and costs very little to run. To have a 70’ to myself- I’d have a pool table installed😀.

@TrevsTravelsByNarrowboat4 жыл бұрын
Washing machine is going in very soon, I ordered it yesterday, now I have made room for one, and upgraded the electrics. As for a freezer, unless you want to spend a lot of money in a huge battery bank and lots of solar panels, they are very difficult to keep running unless you keep the engine running for hours everyday. They are fine if you are marina based and have an electrical hookup. Before I got solar, I had to run my engine for 4 hours a day just to keep the fridge, and other small items working everyday.

@TrevsTravelsByNarrowboat4 жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you for watching. The boat is 60' long. As for the bunk beds, that is the project, I am currently working on during this lockdown. As you come in through the stern doors, have removed the ones on the right completely. I am repurposing the materials and this area is now becoming storage down low, with a work area over. This area is going to have charging points for cameras, and laptop, etc. I should finish this side in the next 2 or 3 days. Then I will begin on the other side, where I am going to put in more storage near the doors, and at the other end by the washbasin I am going to fit a washing machine. I have been videoing parts, and taking still shots of the progress, so a video or 2 will be coming out soon on this. ! for each side I am currently thinking. Trevor

@@TrevsTravelsByNarrowboat yep I would as well. How long is your boat ?
@thomasfilion90643 жыл бұрын
The boat is ready to be converted to your likings. I have plans for my boat when I can sell out and move to the UK. Just me. I sleep on the couch here, so I won't need to have a bedroom. I'd like a tub with a shower in it, kitchen sink can be the only sink in the boat, so it will be large. The refrigerator is the only thing that I can see having to get used to. I drink a lot of diet soda. Those refrigerators are too small. About how much would a 45 foot used boat be if it needs a little interior work? I'm thinking 45-50 thousand.
@TrevsTravelsByNarrowboat3 жыл бұрын
A boat of that size, that needs a little work you can get for less than £20,000.00. I am not sure if you were in dollars or pounds. Big fridges are normally 220-240v this means you will need a large inverter, and also a large battery bank. This is one of the reasons most people stay with the smaller 12v fridge, as they require a lot less power to operate. I find if I want to keep drinks cold I only keep 3 or 4 in the fridge at a time, and discipline myself to replace when taking one out to keep a continuous flow of cold ones. If you store them before going in the fridge on the floor of the boat they will keep cool even in the summer as it will be below water level. BTW I am still using my laptop I bought in the US and the £ sign is alt 0163
@thomasfilion90643 жыл бұрын
I have a plan to get over there. I'd have to get a job to keep going and redo the boat. Do any places you pay to stay allow work to get done on site? It's going to be hard to be in a place where if you need anything you have nobody to call unless you are paying them. I've got a lot of questions but don't want to bother you.
@thomasfilion90643 жыл бұрын
10,000 US dollars is 7,184. Pounds. So it's not in my favor.

Fair enough. That was filmed in my early days of filming. It was done in a rush, as I had tried to stream it live, but I had all sorts of problems that day with streaming.
