Met him a few times at cons and he was THE most wonderful guest to meet. I've met over 100 people at cons but I always said Piper was the guy you walked away thinking it was more his pleasure to meet me than mine. He was just that warm and welcoming. The last time I met him he signed my They Live mask, and he seemed just a tad off or his mind was cloudy. 5 months later he died, and I had no idea he was battling a disease. I'm sure he was medicated last time I met him yet he was still so warm, caring, and great to his fans.

He had a host of health issues and not all from wrestling. He even had cancer. It wasn’t hard to think that he won’t live to be really old. Wrestling back then was a hard business and even harder on your body. You were on the road 300 days out of the year. You usually wrestled hurt for weeks or months before you could get time off. Taking too much time off could be a career killer in some cases. Also you didn’t get paid if your not wrestling. Thankfully the business is better now.

There's only one Rowdy Piper! I miss him so much. He was always one of my very favourite wrestlers, and had an in-your-face personality that demanded to be reckoned with. Since his notorious scalping match in WrestleMania III in the Silver Dome at the Mall of America to his Sottish bagpipes marching band on then-WWF's Monday NIght Raw, he was quite a character - a real shining star. Everything he did was larger than life, and wherever he appeared became a Main Event. My most cherished Piper moment was the record-breaking extended fight scene in John Carpenter's "They Live", which took violent comedy to dizzying new heights! That was da bomb!, as Jesse from "Breaking Bad" would say. Piper was as entertaining an action hero on the silver screen as he was a major player in the ring. RIP, dear Rowdy. You're The Best!!!

Piper was one of my favs back in the day. He was a legend no doubt. He was so hyper and off the hook all the time. Pipers pit was awesome!!! How many times did that pit get trashed from him going off on someone! A lot!!
