Ok, I know there's probably evidence it was going to get eaten or whatever, but my head cannon is that a monk befriended an injured porpoise and took care of it for long enough to realize that there was a mind of intelligence in it and they became friends and when it eventually died the Abbot wouldn't let him bury it in the graveyard because hallowed ground or whatever so he dug it a little grave where it could still see the water and did his own last rites over it and it was beautiful and sad and no one is going to convince me otherwise.

tl;dr: the British Channel Islands have so much fascinating morbid history! HOLY SMOKES I can’t believe my home islands have made it onto KZbin!! And in a video about dead porpoises of all things! I live on Alderney, which is next to Guernsey but smaller and much more rural. 2000 people live here now and we still go nuts when someone spots a porpoise or a seal in the sea. It probably happens 4 or 5 times a year, but by now we’re out of the habit of eating them. Alderney has its own much spookier morbid history, too... the island, which is British, was occupied by Germans in the Second World War - making it the only British soil that Nazi forces ever walked on. Many hundreds of foreign slave labourers from all around the world were shipped here to build stone defences, forts, and concrete bunkers that would have been essential in the event of a German invasion of England. That invasion never happened, and the German troops posted here, alongside 7 native islanders who refused to follow Churchill’s evacuation order, eked out a miserable, almost impossible existence trying to survive off an island that had been decimated by the German war effort. Amidst this ruin, heartbreakingly, many of the foreign slave labourers were worked to death. Without the means or desire to repatriate their bodies, with a reusable coffin the soldiers buried them in a mass grave on a wild, brushy common. The slapdash burial efforts of the disgruntled and frankly inexperienced German soldiers was finally put right after the end of the war, when allied officials liberated the islands and supervised the rebuilding by German troops of several of the houses that had been ripped apart to provide firewood, masonry materials, and glass. Then, in 2018, an excavation just 10s of metres away from this historic burial site revealed bone fragments of ROMAN bodies that had been buried in 2BC. 2BC!!! As well as evidence of settlement. There’s a small fragment of herringboned stone wall nearby - incorporated into a larger, Victorian nunnery, that is also Roman. These islands aren’t that well know, and they hold SO many fascinating - sometimes morbid - secrets. There’s certainly a lot more buried here than just porpoises and handless monks! Maybe one day a video could be made about some more morbid Channel Island mysteries...

Yessss! The board has to be printed like a brick wall with beautiful marmor tiles where the players go along. With sudden traps like the opening to a mausoleum or grave underneath....not a fixed place but one can open it by rolling the dice.... With big , detailed figurines like the WOW board game....
