Travelling The Great Central Road in Summer has its' own peculiar challenges. Well, so Ia haver been told "it could be 45 degrees, more chance of rain" for example.
Of course these and many more such comments ought not be taken lightly, they are, of course, correct. Equally, you could break down, get a flat tyre, get hit by a road train or camel.
The comments visit upon me the good old principle (an acronym) ppppps. For those unfamiliar with it, prior preparation prevents piss pour performance, stupid!
For those astute amongst you will know, having watched my prior videos, that travelling and preparation and safety is not last on my list. Prior to hitting this track we erred o. the side of safety and travelled up to Alice to have the water pump replaced:
• Water Pump Failure on ...
In the beginning of this video I mentioned Id share a link to a prior visit to Yulara:
• Uluru (The Rock) || Ka...
Yes, there was a bit of very light rain on our first day out of Yulara but not sooo much that the red dirt became muddy in any way, have a look of the cruiser and Matrix when we get to Goalie (second part to this video).
Temps were quite mild not exceeding 35 and the road was in terrific condition. I'm sure, from memory, road trains are not allowed to travel this route, which may in some regard explain the good condition. The other mitigating factor, me thinks, was the time of year. Less people inclined to travel the outback in summer, go figure.
Anyhows, as I mention, this is the first part of a 2 part episode. I figure its less of s struggle to sit through 20 odd minutes of video than 40 + minutes (if you manage that).
We loved this trip, it was sooo green and scenic.
