After many aborted attempts to get a handle on the mess in my craft room over the last 2 years, it's time. More and more stuff has crept in... who am I kidding, I bought it!... and the room has become unworkable, both for crafting and working! So it the reset starts now!
In this video I move the stuff out the room, almost like a minimalist packing party!

Thanks Dani! I also have a new in-person colouring friend and I gave her a couple of books and pencils last year which she loved but when I offered her some more books recently she said, "I haven't finished the others yet!" 😂 So I didn't want to overwhelm her with more stuffs... yet 😆

You are so lucky to have a craft room and a guest bedroom! I just recently upgraded to instead of having 2 roommates I only have 1. So that means that I have a gained a guest bedroom/office/craft room

We're old...lol... we bought this house in 2000 when we were young. I lived in a tiny one bedroom studio for years while we saved for a house. When we moved into this house I never knew what to do with all the space!

Aw good luck with your declutter! I’m on the same journey with books, colouring books, pencils and just general stuff EVERYWHERE!! I want to save this year as I hope to start a Teaching Assistant course in 2024 so I’m determined to sell what is new/unused and do a no spend year. Best of luck to you my lovely, you can do it! 😊

It's so easy to put stuff on the side to sort "later" And later, get pushed aside, and the pile on the side gets bigger. It's also too easy to buy stuff from amazon 🙈 I'm trying the no spend too trying to constrate on enjoying what I have . Sometimes the way you organise things dosent work anymore and you need to find a new way. I hope once you sort everything out your new space will work well for you. Also like to say I love your videos as your very real and honest

Thanks Hannah! Time is never on my side at the moment, therefore so much gets pushed aside that isn't my work or keeping on top of my life admin (cleaning, laundry, bills) but the winds of change are blowing 😊

It will be great once done, it always feels super after a good organise. I think I'd add shelves on the wall over the desk space, and perhaps combine your work and home computers onto one desk, as this would free up a lot of space, do you need your home computer to have a separate monitor? Have you got enough leg room with the cube units under the desk, just thinking about your back/neck/posture, as you work such long hours? Either way, I'm sure you will get it a bit better. I look forward to seeing the new layout, good luck, x👍

Hi Wendy, no I don't want any shelves on the wall as I don't like open shelves, dust harbourers. Unfortunately yes, I have to keep my work and personal computers separate.

Brilliant , the August flash back was my favourite! Like everyone else I can’t wait to see it done . It’s hard to let go of stuff “ in case” you decide to do it again , eg looks like scrapbooking is probably not on your agenda 😂at the moment. I’ve got a mahoosive bag of knitting stuff and a mahoosive bag of felt making stuff “in case” I go back to it . Sending love ❤️ x

The August flashback really showed how busy I was at that time. Just finished the big Royal event and then straight into covering the other manager who left on 31st July! I love scrapbooking and will definitely get back to it... just like you say its not currently on the agenda!

how brave of you to show it and yes, you can indeed have too much. How do you decide which to get rid of and which to keep? I've been cleaning up a bit myself. I first got rid of my art supplies and coloring books that I really don't like to use and still don't want to color in anymore. I'm going to try to keep it up with you as long as possible not to buy anything new. You can do it! Good luck! Try to enjoy it too, because you will probably also come across nice things that you didn't even know you had anymore. 🙂

Anything I don't use over the next few months won't come back into the room and I'll let it go. We always have our favourite things but it so easy to start collecting stuff unnecessarily. Good luck with your no spend too!

I see a lot of wall space that is not being utilized for storage. Us crafters/colorist/artists always do better with storage. My husband is a wood craftsman who made a lot of cabinets for me on the wall which helped me a lot. TFS!

@@ArtJourneyUK No, i have a Dutch website for hobby’s and my “art” room is for all my hobby’s. I love to color, diamondpainting, loombeading and build Lego. So i have soooo much more time than you have, so it is easy to get them cleaned up. I declutter a couple of months ago with stuff i don’t like to use and i try not to buy more stuff than i have now, but it is not easy! I have 54 coloringbooks and i didn’t color in 50 of them……i have 5 big colorpencil sets (the beauties) 2 chalk pastel pencils sets and a aquarel pencil set and that’s enough for me. But for you, who have a youtube site, you need to show new stuff and i totaly understand it. You are really good in declutter!

Wishing you the support and strength, you can do it - because I know you already have before ❤ I really do hear and feel your frustration, I have done the same process in my home and have got the household and clothing purchases under control yet my hobbies are the area I still overbuy and accumulate. And it’s not to compare who has the most stuff, or how much is too much because our tolerance threshold and budgets etc are all different and relevant to the whole issue. I’m also thinking you have probably delved into the psychology behind Konmari and other decluttering processes, and the cycles of hoarding/collecting/overbuying,accumulating (as I have, and I still do it 😑) so no lectures here, just support!
