Saw it as a kid in a cinema in Greece, still remember my heart beating, still that feeling comes back everytime I come across scenes. Epic. McQueen an icon gone too soon.

my mother took me to see it in the theatre when I was 9 or 10 years old. incredible movie. in the lobby of the theatre they had replicas of some of the actual equipment the prisoners built for the escape. I remember looking at the breathing apparatus equipment and was amazed by it.

If maestro Sturges called for a project in the sixties stars lined up immediately. This is likely his masterpiece besides The Magnificent Seven and Bad Day at Black Rock. The cast alone is marvellous: Big X, the scrounger, the forger, the manufacturer and the two kings, the Cooler King aka King of Cool Steve McQueen and mighty Charles Bronson as the claustrophobic and intense Tunnel King. A must watch.I watched it once in solitary confinement believe it or not (only I had no baseball).
