As a person who was forced to read the book in high school, I will say this is the BEST adaptation of the book! The costumes, visuals, the acting and music literally looks like it leapt right off the pages of the book!

The book was especially interesting because Gatsby was the only character who was good at heart, even though he had just as many flaws as the other characters. Reading a story about mostly bad people and seeing it through one of them's eyes made it even sadder. It leaves you in a hopeless state.

I wouldn't say that Nick Carraway wasn't necessarily good. Compared to other characters, he was generally more loyal and less prejudice. I do think that he got easily swept up in all of the insincere glamour though and let others persuade him into making selfish decisions. I also wouldn't say that Gatsby was completely good at heart, he did have a very passionate and enduring love but also an overriding ambition and a lack of consideration for others.

Leo doesn't just act the role of Gatsby, he embodies it. He lives it. Outstanding performance. Toby is equally awesome ad doesn't become eclipsed by Leo's masterful performance. This is a must see film, just for the sane of seeing two actors at the top of their age neither one upstaging the other.

lol it does exist! it was a specific version of Hotel Sayre that was originally included in the orchestral score album but Craig Armstrong reworked the score and released another version (the one youll see today). i literally had it on itunes in 2015 until they scrubbed it off the face of the earth 😭😭

read the book in school and it has actually become my all time favourite novel. I ADORE Gatsby, and the film just looks astounding, if anyone can make such a fantastical word of east and west egg, Gatsby's parties and post-war listlessness come alive it is Baz Lurhman, I just love how he spoke about the film starting out with everything beautiful and new and astonishing; as the film went on the realities of life seeped through the edges of the film until the end was quite dramatic and serious
