The next instalment of the rebuild - in this episode we finish the body work, rebuild the qtr vents and Windscreen frame. Then we sub it all down and get on our 2k epoxy undercoat.

Yes I put many relays in my 1973 B. That is an excellent idea. You are doing a wonderful job.

I like your idea about rebuilding the wiring harness. Good thinking.

good plan on the rear seals, the bonus of using body adhesive is that it seals under the tee beading which should stop it rusting again

doing a bit of customization à la the 1950's on the body i see. bravo! well worth the effort, seeing that I don't have to make it, to remove those hideous seams. next thing i expect, you'll be shaving the door handles and frenching the headlights. :) Leanardo chose to ignore (apocryphal?) the big wart on Ms. Lisa's face too, so i've been told. ...you're in good company. **grin**

Did I miss something. What about the rocker panels? They are noteworthily a big problem and a major structural component!
@stevegnome Жыл бұрын
yup - they all got done. Inner sills, baffle, rockers, floors, outer sill, doglegs....

It is unfortunate that you did not show the rebuilding of the rocker panels. I was watching these videos primarily to see your approach to this rather common and critical repair. Cannot you not add this as a special addition to your videos? But then I assume there was a reason for not including this important repair job. What was the reason for leaving it out? Too bad I really wanted to see that!

The windscreen is a nightmare to so correctly. Th major problem is putting too much sealant into the channels. They take almost no sealant but enough to seal the channels. For a long time I had a leak that dripped onto my drivers leg. Turns out that the water got into the upper corner of the window and went down inside the channel and dripped on my leg. Be sure to check for this. They you have to install it into the body of the car. The lower part of the windscreen has a rubber seal that must be compressed or you will never be able to punch the two tongues at each end for enough to insert the bolts to hold the windscreen in place. I set two screws jacks pushing on each windshield post nailed to the ceiling of my garage and pushed the whole assembly into the female slots whole heating the lower gasket. I was finally able to compress the rubber base seal put the bolts into place. If you are not careful you can brake the windshield! Good luck with this part of the job!
