If it weren't for those brave men of 1941 who resisted against all odds for so many months, the red army wouldn't have the opportunity to renew itself and eventually become more powerful than the german army, the allies wouldn't have been able to land in Normandy and free France. Without knowing it, the Soviet soldiers who died by millions in 1941 died not only for their country, but for the whole world

Yeah I totally agree. The Russians learned from their mistakes. Stalin listened to his Generals-Hitler neverdid choosing to sack them and run the show himself leading him to make decisions which made neither strategic or tactical sense.

Ezequiel Stepanenko if it wasn’t for Churchill in Britain we will all be speaking German now .Hitler invaded Russia hoping to kill the last British hope and yes the sacrifice of those millions of Russians in 1941 was not in vain
@ezequielstepanenko32294 жыл бұрын
@@kostasmastrogiannis9181 Churchill was just a man, like Hitler or Stalin, they made politics, alliances and pull the strings. Yet the real heroes were in the frontlines, and no other country sacrifice as much as the Soviet, the British were fighting for power, the Soviets were fighting for their existence, for their people, and to an enemy bigger and much more armored than them
@kostasmastrogiannis91814 жыл бұрын
Stepanesko correct what you said about the Russians as far as the sacrifice but lets not forget if the Russians didn’t sign the Molotov Ribbentrop pact the war would not have started and then supply the Germans while Churchill had a chance to compromise after the fall of France and he chose to continue the war all alone without allies something the Russians had in 1941.Churchill fought for principles something Stalin did not have besides the urge to hold power like hitler had The soviet soldier died by the millions sad to say because of the purges Stalin made in the military in 1938 and because of stalins stupidity when it came to military matters Get your history straight

Guderian was wrong. Germany couldn't fight effectively without obtaining oil, and that was in the south, in the Caucasus, not in Moscow.
@patrickholt22705 жыл бұрын
@Srinath Radhakrishnan Nah. They wouldn't have surrendered because of losing Moscow. That didn't work for Napoleon, it wouldn't have worked for the Nazis. And the real reason they couldn't take Moscow was because they were too far from Germany without oil. They couldn't get much further east because of their supply limitations, in which, because of the incompatible railway guage meaning they had to move everything by truck or horsecarts, oil was all important.
@ВадимАндреев-г5д5 жыл бұрын
@@patrickholt2270 Already 150 years in the war almost everything is decided by economic potential.. With a socialist economy and aid to the world's most advanced economy, the United States, Germany and its allies had no chance. Let the Nazis and occupied the whole of Europe.

The REAL mistake was in the 1930's, several years before even the invasion of Czechaslavakia. They never developed 4 engine strategic heavy bombers. Just imagine if they had 300 to 400 bombers equivalent to the Lancasters or B-17s, based them around Smolensk and Kiev, they could have completely wiped out any incoming reinforcements long before they arrived at Leningrad, Moscow, and eventually Stalingrad. They would have destroyed all the rail lines, The Red Air Force was virtually non-existent, there would be almost zero threat to bomber at 30,000 feet (roughly 9,000 meters). They would have won the war before the end of 1942, or at least had achieved stalemate that the USSR could never have broken.

This was good. The fighting around Kiev delayed the German advance on Moscow-with disastrous consequences for theGermans. Kirponos was clearly out of his depth, the less said about Budenny the better. Both were Cavalry Officers-withlittle or no knowledge of armored warfare. Nevertheless the courage shown by the Soviet troops was phenomenal. By thetime the Germans resumed the drive on Moscow the weather turned. The Soviet doctrine "Trade space for time" worked forthe Russians. Blitzkreig was bogging down and things for the Germans were about to get a lot worse.
