Hi Stephen,great vlog seeing all the planets so clear. On Thursday night here it was so cold with clear crisp sky, we could see all those you've shown, they were very big and bright, love our sky, thanks great 👍. Take care x🎅🤶

Must be great to get a sweep of a clear sky like that, just houses all around me and lucky if you can see 10 stars with all the light pollution, what can you do though, great video, all the best to you and everyone on your Starman channel, cheers mate.

Great Video Stephen, it's inspired me to attempt to photograph 7 planets all in one night. I'll have to get up early and drive up into the hills to see Mercury rising though.

Thanks Leon. Mercury can be a tough spot, but it’s far enough away from the sun before dawn to see in the bright twilight at the moment.

I dont know anything about the stars but I always love the sky around winter solstice, so I really enjoyed this video explaining the main planets that we can see at this time of year in a basic way for us basics to understand! xx

Around the time you were filming I was ticking all those plants off as I Returned To Base at the end of my day. I’ve been enjoying the planets for the last few weeks. Only spotted Saturn yesterday.
@starman196919 күн бұрын
Mercury is quite well placed, but you will need to look low to the southeast from about 7am until 7:30am to have a chance of spotting it.

Hi Stephen. a very interesting video. can't see many stars here with the lights in the city, But two nights ago I did see a very bright light. I thought it was a plane at first but it didn't move. It was a very clear sky. Have a great Christmas . Mildred xxx

It could well have been Venus Mildred. Happy Christmas 🎄

Happy Christmas Stephen, great explanation of where to see the planets at the moment. I had a great view on Thursday from my back garden in North Wales just over the border from Chester. I wanted to take a picture of Mars because it was close to the Beehive cluster but it clouded over before I could set up my camera. I can actually see Venus and Saturn without even going outside at the moment because some of my rooms face due south.

Thanks Kevin. I should have mentioned that Mars was in Cancer.

You've reminded me of the wonder I felt when I saw Jupiter and her moons through a modest telescope belonging to a schoolmate, way back in 1961. It was not until 1610 that the moons had been spotted when Galilleo made his little telescope. I know some people have been transfixed by Saturn and her rings, but Jupiter has always been my stand out magic moment of stargazing.
@stevensmith746018 күн бұрын
@@RadioJonophone agree but one of the best things I ever saw through my new telescope as a kid back in the early 70s was Saturn rising from behind the moon over it's horizon. Will Never forget it.

Jupiter was the first planet I saw through a telescope. I’ll never forget it.

Been a battle between Venus and Jupiter both blazing away at about the same height but one in the west and one in the east.Mars is really bright but later.Saturn a bit dimmer but mid sky.Not to forget Uranus which is technically naked eye not that many have seen it without binoculars.
@starman196919 күн бұрын
I must have a good look for Uranus because it’s very well placed at the moment.

Not Mars, the moons of Jupiter.

Is there any speculation that Venus may eventually orbit the sun in synchronicity?
@starman196919 күн бұрын
It’s possible, but will probably take 100’s of million years.
