🇲🇽In this video we're heading to Cholula, YES it's the BIGGEST pyramid in the world (in terms of overall size, not height), located close to Puebla in Central Mexico, which itself is just 2 hours on the bus from Mexico City.
If you're looking for places to visit in Mexico or even as a (slightly long) day trip from CDMX, Cholula provides a great opportunity to not only visit this awesome sight but also learn more about Mexican history, Puebla itself, Popcatepetl and Iztaccihuatl volcanoes and more.
On the top of the pyramid (which isn't fully excavated, it looks like a large hill) is a church built by the Spanish in the 1600s. Inside you can marvel at the beautiful interior, chandelier and listen to traditional Mexican music, as well as have an amazing view!
You can also visit the museum and archaeological zone....it's a must do while you're in Mexico!

I find your videos entertaining and informative. I was at that church last year. I learned that the Spaniards deliberately damaged the pyramid and erected the church on top of it, to show the superiority of Catholicism over the indigenous religions.

I visited Cholula pyramid in August 2019. That day there were fireworks going off along the hillside walking up the pathway and up near the top too, I found fireworks rather odd during the day. The church is lovely as are the panoramic views from the top. I was unaware of the excavated area and must return to see that. That afternoon when the clouds lifted both Popcateptl and Iztaccihuatl appeared soaring over the northwestern horizon. They were both breath-taking.

Yes, I left CDMX on May 19th, the first stop on the way to Cancun was Cholula and Puebla! I had a great day exploring and learning more! What do you think of Cholula? Yes, the largest pyramid in the world!! Next up, Puebla and my Mexico bus travel experience!

This is debunked as a Mexican Hoax. So no, he shouldn’t be thanked because he did not show your country in in an honest way. All lies and fundamentally compromised. For shame!

Anyways, I hope my people treat you good..Keep exploring México pero siempre con precaución y mucho cuidado.. Hi David. Cholula is lovely. In pre-Columbian times it was a holly city for the indigenous people. In Cholula the Spaniards perpetrated one of the most horrible massacres during the conquest of Mexico. It's popular with European tourists, especially with Germans since near Cholula there is a huge VW plant. The reason why tourists are not allowed to make photos of churches from the inside is because local people want to prevent robberies of colonial and sacred art. Years ago many churches from Puebla and other states of Mexico were robbed by well-organized band of thefts. Mexican Colonial and religious art is highly appreciated, so any piece robbed from a church is worth several thousands of US dollars. Don't get mad. I know it is frustrating for us tourists, but locals are just trying to protect their historical legacy.

Lots of good information in this one. I didn't know there was a museum. Hopefully, I will get to visit Cholula in October. Fireworks and fiestas are definitely very popular in Mexico. Thanks for filming in the midst of the fireworks and noise!

Well done mate! Mr. ADD powered through those bloody bells! 🔔🔔🔔Lol. Got your alert when I passed rando WiFi a few days ago. Been in the Czech nature 🌿🌳🍁 for 5 days, finally got a shower! Even the cold trickle of the hostel was much appreciated🚿! Hiked🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️ back to Prague for free Museum Night filled with performances, concerts, street acts💃, art galleries and free transit 🚃🚌. So much to do in Prague, Mexico seems likewise. What are the hostels like there? Didn't you stay in 1 hostel and an AirB&B? Looking forward to the next several videos. Is Mexico becoming as popular as your Japan vids?🤙

Animals Animals hey your trip sounds awesome! Haha about the trickle shower! I've been in airbnbs the whole time except 1 night in cancun which was pretty dire and the one I'm in now on Holbox which is similiar to the one I stayed in on Gili Air. Hammocks! I have a week in a hostel in Havana coming up! The next 3 videos are all ready to upload I just have awful wifi! Mex videos are popular than Japan as the audience are so engaged. It's a good job I'm plannin to move to cdmx long term!

Hello there mate! awesome video as usual! Once again, it is s good to see how you are knowing new places in my Mexico and indeed, you may spent quite some time here and you won't even get to know all the wonders that this magical place has to offer. I know you won't be in Mexico too long, but I hope you may enjoy some day in the future, the Day of the Dead...it's quite an experience... Regards from Monterrey!
