I’m glad to see you guys coming around to preterism. It really is the most biblical of the end times views. I used to be a dispensationalist but now I’m amillenial partial preterist. Oh and of course I hold to progressive covenant theology.

Thanks for watching! Yes, I would largely agree with Dr. Gentry on vv. 15-21, but I would not go as far as he does toward Preterism on the rest of Matthew 24. For instance, I just don't find convincing that verse 29-31 refer to 70 AD and the evangelization of the world. However, I do understand their argument, and it isn't a foolish one. I just find it much more convincing that that text is talking about the second coming. Thanks again for your encouragement!

@@MarkNorthAveChurch Do a word search in the KJV of "second coming," and you will not find it in scripture! The first coming was when he was killed. The final coming was at the destruction of Jerusalem and that temple in AD 70. There is no yet future coming of the Lord. It is all done! "It is finished!" said Jesus.

Revelation 7:14 I answered, "Sir, you know." And he said, "These are they who have COME OUT OF great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb...........In this verse "come out of" is associated with a Greek word with the root meaning "ESCAPE FROM" ...in other words, these in white robes are those that have "ESCAPED or CAME THROUGH great tribulation" as oppose to those under the altar (5th seal).

Mat 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: Mat 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Mat 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Here's the issue immediately after that tribulation we see the cosmic signs which have never been seen to this day and immediately after that tribulation Jesus returns to gather the elect which requires a resurrection since the dead in Christ rise first. The sun and moon being darkened and the stars falling from heaven is an old Hebrew way of writing about Gods almighty judgment on a nation and not a physical collapse of the heavenly celestial bodies… please refer to Isaiah 13:10, Isaiah 24:23 , Ezekiel 32:7 , Joel 2:10 , Joel 2: 31 , Joel 3:15 ,Amos 8:9 , and Micah 3:6 … all Old Testament and God speaking through these prophets of his impending judgment on either Israel, Judah or other nations.. His Judgements came to pass and we still have celestial bodies in the heavens . 🤔🤔

The 70 Weeks in context "Know and understand that at the beginning of 7 sets of seven time periods a king will "speak a word" to restore and rebuild Jerusalem with streets and a trench during times of trouble. Then after 62 sets of seven time periods the Messiah will come but He will be cut off from His people and have nothing. However, during the 1 set of seven time periods the Messiah will confirm a covenant with many people and therefore put an end to sacrifice and offerings in the middle of that time period........Finally, the ruler of the people will come and set up an abomination that causes the desolation of the temple and war will continue like a flood until he has completely destroyed the city and the sanctuary.

Here's why the abomination of desolation is not referring to AE killing a pig on the alter. Revelation says the abomination causes desolation. By the time AE took Jerusalem, the desolation had already occurred. Next, the killing of the pig on the alter, along with the other travesties committed by AE led to the Maccabean revolt which succeeded in repelling Epiphanies army. When Revelation talkes about the abomination, it says that the abomination itself will cause abomination. "The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed." Revelation 13:5 So we se that the abomination itself was able to cause desolation. When AE set up the statue of Zeus and killed the pig, those were empty items that were not given any power to do anything.

God operates on the principle of duality. Ex: the OT physical nation of Israel(the church in the wilderness Acts 7:38) and the NT church, spiritual Israel. Prophecy is also dual, meaning there is a forerunner and an anti type, latter day fulfillment. The 70 AD holocaust, exclusive to the cities of Judah, was merely a forerunner type of what is to occur just prior to Christs return. Daniel was written for “the time of the end”(Daniel 12:8-9) which is when its main fulfillment would happen. Verse 1 is the same exact prophetic language as Matthew 24:21. Daniel 12:7 and Revelation 12:14 are identical in describing the time duration of these end time catastrophic events that the Church(the woman) is protected from. Also, without understanding who the end time nations of Israel are, it is impossible to have a clear picture of these events and where the world is in prophetic time. Otherwise, it’s just human reasoning trying to solve a jigsaw puzzle.

And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Revelation 8:1 - And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. Revelation 20:4-6 - And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

You did not quote what precedes and follows eating Jesus’ flesh and blood. Samaritan woman did not drink physical water. Jesus did not offer physical water. Jesus saw that his Apostles had a hard time with eating his flesh and blood, and Jesus said: John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. -Read the chapter to see that we do not physically eat and drink Jesus’ flesh and blood. It is against the Law of Moses to do so. Jesus’ words were spirit.

@jjmulvihill No, for sure not! All the jews said: How is this possible? We catholics believe in JESUS not in men. We are perhaps poor in spirit but we trust Peter, Paul all the saints, all our brothers....... and do you think JESUS had to give the woman the holy eucharist?

"...the end will come therefore when you see the abomination of desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the Prophet." The sign is the abomination of desolation and Jesus returns once. Two witnesses will die six weeks after the setting up of the abomination of desolation. Top Bible Scholars agree that what has been revealed now is that the day of the Lord is in the first half of the final 7 years. Daniel 7:25-26, Saints are put into the hand of the antichrist for about 3½ years. Who would give Saints to the antichrist half way through the 7 years? No one! Are the first 3½ years the time-line? Yes. The fig tree parable. It is not about Isreal reborn in 1948 or the "works" described. A generation is not 76 years! When you see sacrifices in Isreal stopped at the abomination of desolation, six weeks later, two witnesses will be killed and left to lie on the street in Jerusalem. Jesus returns just 3½ days later! "When you see the first buds on a fig tree, or any tree, you know that summer is soon." About six weeks later. What is day 1,335 in Daniel 12:12 ? Ask any Post trib teacher and they will say "I don't know. I was taught 7 years". Day 1,335 is the day of the Lord!

So, why are you in the pulpit, trying to convince people of future events, that you yourself admit you don't know if it is or is not correct? You "believe" this is talking about a yet future event? Why should we give you any credence then? You either know, or you don't know. THAT is what you teach! If there is a yet future coming, prove it by scripture and what you know because the text says so.
