1787.  Two Nation Builders.  Two opposing points of view.  One document.   To ratify or not to ratify? 
Witness history in the making as James Madison, referred to as the Father of the Constitution, and George Mason, author of the Virginia Declaration of Rights, debate the pros and cons of the U.S. Constitution.   Moderated by Stewart Harris, Associate Director of the Abraham Lincoln Institute for the Study of Leadership and Public Policy at Lincoln Memorial University where he teaches constitutional law.  Mr. Harris is also the creator of Your Weekly Constitutional, which is produced at WETS-FM, the NPR affiliate in Johnson City, Tennessee, and syndicated nationally.

If you promise to a contract would that make you a contractor ? Unless someone can solidify that into tangible would you not able to exercise

This is not historically correct. It would be better to read what they said in the state conventions. Madison did not say the states would be subordinate to the general government. He said each would be supreme in their jurisdiction. The powers that belong to the general government are few and defined those that belong to the states are numerous and indefinite. Mason believed there was a conspiracy to consolidate the government over time. Concerning nullification Madison wrote the Virginia Resolutions.
