A question just occurred to me. What do you make of traditions Buddhist etc after being exposed to so much nondual truth? Is the path a formality at this point?
@SamaneriJayasara4 жыл бұрын
@@flecha213 Nice to hear from you again Flecha. How have ya been? Traditions and lineages can provide powerful containers for transmission of the Truth and many are beautiful and ancient like the Buddhist one I am aligned with which dates back to Guatama Buddha or Shakyamuni. They are potent when headed by an authentically realised One. I remember my teacher asking us to reflect on the abundance and generosity of support we receive as monastics and he said that this is all a result of the continuing parami (resultant good karma) of the Buddha. Now that stopped my mind completely and is most humbling. I feel in my heart it is true. Having said all that, if one clings to a view of one's tradition as being the best or the only harbinger of Truth and attaches to ancient rights and rituals or cultural practices, or ways of doing or seeing the world as being essentially right and true, then it is wrong view. Traditions provide a powerful refuge and are a raft for reaching Liberation but they themselves are still part of the relative world. Many have reached Liberation without belonging to any formal tradition - the Buddha himself! In truth though, we all belong to the same One Divine tradition of the Heart.

The secret of the service industry is the repetition of simple tasks. There comes a realization there is no difference between standing and doing or sitting zazen aside from within ones own perspective. I clean pools and its something that can't be rushed or else you stir the water and make a bigger mess than you started with, much like life itself.
@Onlythisthing4 жыл бұрын
It makes me laugh so much. I did Zazen for 15 years and every time I sat down the teacher would say “without effort or striving for anything” of course no one hears that part and as soon as we sit we try to achieve something, make ourselves better somehow. It’s as if we listen to all of these none duel messages and completely miss the main point, the striving to get something and the feeling of being a separate individual are the same thing. We feel that somehow this as it is isn’t ok and that it needs to be different to be ok, from there we seek and the seeking only strengthens the feeling that there’s something to get. Can we drop seeking or are we to invested in the warm fuzzy delicious things it promises? Do we want the truth at any cost or do we want to continue seeking with the hope that we’ll get something really really special, it’s the ultimate ego trip and it will end when it ends, it all just happens. There is no doer. Thank you for the wonderful voice and video.

I heard once “The ego wants to be there for its own enlightenment. It is its biggest disappointment.” I h-ear what you are saying John. Not sure I necessarily understand but I think I do. I have a teacher that says meditation is wonderful, however, if the intention is to get somewhere else or like you mentioned with the hopes of the delicious candies and experiences promised, I am actually reinforcing ego and separation. Equally, that is part of it too. Also, as Master Seung Sahn taught “I don’t know.” Blessings 🙇🏽

@@Itwasrealbutnotfun Hi Sean. The ego is the feeling of being a ME, the ME is the feeling that there's something that needs to happen for this to be OK. Most spiritual teachings are simply trying to teach an individual how to become something special, this is exactly what the ME wants and therefore it's very attractive, in fact we will go to extreme lengths to become something special. People will deprive their body, sit for weeks on end, learn the sacred texts by heart, all of it is just reinforcing the idea that there's a ME that can become something special, happiness without a moment of unhappiness, that's what we are really after. There isn't a separate individual in the body called a John or a Sean that could become anything or understand anything, all there is is THIS exactly as it is. It can be seen that all that's happening is a feeling of lack, that every move is just ME trying to get something to feel fulfilled, if this is seen then that energy can stop and what's left is only THIS with no feeling of separation. Nothing means anything, nothing has a purpose or a charge, only ME gives meaning and purpose, and only for its own continuation.

Absolutely brilliant. This is pure wisdom--perfection. Dear Samaneri Jayasara, thank you for this wonderful gift. I am sure you have managed to sow the seeds of enlightenment in the hearts of many through the wonderful contributions you have made on this KZbin channel. Personally, I find this reading to be particularly profound. I had tears running down my cheeks by the end of the recording--neither tears of sorrow nor joy. It's very hard to explain, but it's as though I'd become one with the world around me. I didn't feel anything per say, just an acute awareness of the shapes and sounds and all else surrounding me. No awareness of self whatsoever. It was beautiful in retrospect, although it didn't strike me as beautiful in the moment because I wasn't conscious of my own thoughts and feelings. Is this what we call a transcendental experience? Although I've been meditating for a while and I've read and listened to countless scriptures, it was my first time experiencing this. In any case, my mind feels purely at peace right now and I owe this entirely to you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I don't think anyone can get the Tao, but can only align more in accordance to the Tao. And the measurement to know that you are or are not, is the greater or lesser degree of a sense of ease is sensed.. You can't know it intimately directly, by you can intuit and witness fruits of lining up with the Tao's currents. The Tao that can be named is a flavor or quality of the Tao, and their are many, and they cannot be caught and contained by anyone. Nisargadatta's You Are That(used to be a popular book, idk if you read it), could also be called You Are Tao I think.
