The younger death eaters also asked why he trained other the houses well as DADA teacher. He does not hesitate to use Avada Kedavra to maintain his status as a double agent. He’s almost definitely a Slytherin, and a fitting mentor for Snape

Then, another Netflix series on the Great Wizarding War, from the beginning to the death of the Potters n Voldemorts defeat at the hands of a baby Harry Potter.

Holy shit, that scene where Voldemort possessed Peter gave me chills! The drawing, the voice acting, the sound effects, everything about that scene was magnificent! I think Peter is going to become my next favorite character in this. I'm also extremely curious as to what's going on in Snape's head regarding the potion, and the order (more specifically Lily) being attacked. Very excited for the next part!

You know, I originally just wanted to rewatch Snape vs the Marauders. I just randomly remembered that video existed yesterday and thought it would be something to watch before running errands today. But then I saw there were ten videos that followed up on that one and thought “what the hell, why not?” And after binge watching them all afternoon, I have to say HOLY CRAP THESE ARE AWESOME!!! This is exactly what HP fans have needed since the series ended. No Marauders at Hogwarts (we already know what happened) no dead center focus on James/Lily and their relationship or brooding Snape, just a clear, well-polished story about the war itself. And this exceeds all expectations. I’ll be honest, I’ve been burnt out on HP for a few years now, but I’m hooked on this; I even got out my old wands from Universal Studios. And adding Snape as the Death Eaters’ trainer was a very nice touch. I know this is more centered towards the books, so the DEs don’t do their black smoke thing, but with how you guys have done this, it wouldn’t surprise me if Snape taught them that. I have no idea how long it’s gonna take for the next chapter, but I hope it’s soon; and I hope there will be a lot more afterwards. The cast is great, the writing is great, the directing is great, some of the artwork could be better (not gonna be a troll or a suck-up just being honest), and the music is great, too! If there was one thing I would recommend, it would be for James’ actor. Dude, if you end up reading this (doubtful) nothing against you or your acting, but whenever you’re with Peter’s actor it’s really hard to tell your voices apart; it almost sounds like you’re the same actor trying to use a separate voice for each character. Not being critical, it’s just something I noticed, especially during Godric’s Hollow. Can’t wait for more!

The technique of switching back and forth between the two groups hearing about the potion was - wow! It's confusing but impressive in a visual medium, and rarely well done. Doing it properly in an audio medium is well worthy. Hats off to you. And of course, the idea of the potion itself is horrifying. Some nitpicks: I'd have thought Dobby would address Narcissa as "Mistress" rather than "Master". (I think that's how Kreacher referred to the elder Mrs. Black.) And I felt the wand jokes incongruous; these four have grown up with wands all their lives. I don't think they would suddenly discover wand jokes to be hilarious, not at their age. On a more thoughtful note, Dumbledore telling Frumentar to "do what is necessary" is ironic coming only moments after his ideals are discussed, in which he clearly disagrees with the "greater good" concept Frumentar reminds him he once shared with Grindelwald. And I'm not sure I agree that either of those positions is the one I picture Dumbledore taking.

are you an old man or something? I am nearly 30 and can tell you 9/10 of my friends my age and older would still laugh if we were in such a situation as the four Marauders were, nervous to be joining the Order but perfectly comfortable and back to their usual troublesome humorous selves the moment Moody tried to boss them around. The flout authority left and right, they thumb their noses at people who take life too seriously and they just have had a great emotional and horrifying eye-opening reality check, regarding how no one is safe anymore now that the Wizarding War has begun..So yeah , for me, someone who can really relate to the Marauders, I can say this scene felt so fitting and a welcome change of energy, since most of the previous several episodes have been full of serious and long brooding scenes, not to mention violent. it felt like a nice respite amidst the middle of a war.

but I too had a few things to nit pick. I agree with you about your first point, and also feel that Molly Weasley being in the order felt very... out of place, since in pretty sure that's not accurate to the original Order members mentioned in the Order of the Phoenix but I absolutely loved these last few episodes more than the entire series thus far. I honestly cried during this episode and the last. the moments between Lily and James and the moment between Voldemort and Peter. soooo good. 👏🏽

I'm in my upper thirties, but grew up and live within a (rather conservative) religious community, so that explains my sensitivity. I still think that this specific brand of joke needs some sort of novelty, and in the Wizarding world, wands are so ubiquitous as to be unremarkable - and unremarked on - unless one stands out for a particular reason. That is, the crass humor may be funny, and even make sense for the situation, but it's out of character to joke about wands that way. I don't have chapter and verse offhand, but I think the Prewett brothers and their sister Molly were all members of the Order, even before she married Arthur Weasley. Remember, she does not lack for skill or talent, as can be seen from her duel with Bellatrix Lestrange - which she _won._

It's definitely an experiment in mixing the times that events took place, mainly because I wanted to do a back and forth between Luthor and Moody explaining the potion. Those conversations are not happening at the same time. It likely would have been more successful in a visual medium, but I wanted to try it anyway :)

Good to see you back! All this time I'd wondered about Luthor Frumentar. He starts out as a good or neutral guy. How did he become a spy for Dumbledore? I was completely fooled thinking he was a Death Eater when he's actually spying like Snape did later. He doesn't appear in the books or movies. Edit: Feb 2nd 2021: I watched your discussion and rematched episode 10. It seems to have added pictures. I figure Luthor Frumentar ends up either killed or leaves the UK.

My theory is that Narcissa is gonna find out about him eventually (she asked Dobby to do something for her right after Luthor questioned the loyalty of her husband, she's not stupid, I believe she suspects something/she thinks Luthor is dangerous for Lucius, so she's gonna have him followed). Dobby will probably tell her his secret (which could be good character building for Dobby, to explain why he so desperately wants to help Harry in the Chamber of Secrets and rebel to his masters: he doesn't want to contribute to any more murder his masters are planning to commit, because he has seen what they are capable of doing during the first war) and then Voldemort will kill Luthor. He can't be another Snape, Snape succeded and was never caught, I believe Luthor will at some point fail in his mission, otherwise it would just be the exact same story. Also, him dying while failing is the only plausible reason he is not mentioned in the Harry Potter books (apart from the fact that this is not canon xD), had him succedeed completely he would be alive or at least mentioned as an example for Severus while he was working as a spy. Yes, he says he doesn't want to be remembered, but is that enough reasons to actually not getting ANY recognition after the war? mmmmm... So far, the writers of this marvelous series have been coherent to the actual books, I think they will go on with that. They can't give Luthor too much of a role in this war without having him dead at some point. Also I believe his becoming a spy is somehow connected with the death of his wife which he mentioned a couple of episodes ago, and the "sins" he talkes about with Dumbledore. Which is just another similarity with Snape's story, another reason for him to fail at some point, to give us at least a slightly different story.

@@emmaverti6805 That's exactly what I was thinking. I think Luthor isn't being very convincing at defending himself, despite his "control" on other people to do what he wants. When Lucius is accusing him he changes subject immediately and he responds ironically ("You deduced that yourself, didn't you?") and in a way that I think is not too convincing for the others to believe him. Also I think he could die failing in the battle at Hogwarts to use the potion, maybe he will be discovered by Voldemort while he conjures the sparks to alert Dumbledore.

Harry probably was not conceived this early. Lily and James didn't have Harry for about two years, they're about 17-18 in these scenes, and have him when they're both 20. I also really like the series too. I love how well Snape and Luthor are developed, it's very obvious that Luthor is looking out for him while also trying to not have Voldemort use him in certain ways as he's clearly the most competent Death Eater. I also love very much how powerful Snape is in this series, he's about 18 years old in this and is far more skilled than wizards several times his age. The only times James lands any spells on him is when he catches Snape completely off guard.

Aahahahahaha I love you! But unfortunately, I don't think he is yet. Since Lily was born in January 1960 and James in March 1960, I believe that at this point of the story it must be something like autumn/winter 1978 (they just got out of school, and they are 18 years old). Harry was born on July 31 1980, which means he was "put in the oven" around october/november 1979 (probably on Halloween, 'cause we all know how much Rowling's obsessed with numbers, meanings and stuff). So, unless a year is already passed since the beginning of this story and we are already in 1979, I don't believe Harry will be put in the oven any time soon :(

I might be wrong because I listened to the first chapters a long time ago and I may have forgotten a few things ^^" And if that wasn't the time when Harry was conceived, then there is no reason for that scene at all. The reconciliation of James and Lily could have stoped before the wohoo moment, imo. XP

@@Jully5Jullyet I binge-watched/(listened?) the entire series today and I'm pretty sure the time gap covered just a couple of months, I believe a year is way too much. Mostly because that would mean that Lily and James had been separated for something like a year and two months since the night they attacked Snape, but when James finds Lily at the Order's headquarters and he tries to talk to her it is pretty clear that they never talked since the St. Mungo scene, and he doesn't actually know what the status of their relationship is. Now, I can understand they've both been busy, he was dealing with all that Dragon Pox stuff and she was having ethical problems in her apprentice as a healer, but to let A YEAR pass without even try to define the state of their relationship sounds like too much xD. As for them making love in 1978, that could have just been normal make up sex, and the writers might have let us hear it just because it was cute and romantic (?). ANYWAY (I don't even know why I'm putting so much effort in this, I'm SORRY you had to read all of my assumptions and calculations, I'm taking this WAY too seriously ahaha) there still is the fact that Broad Strokes liked your comment. They liked the Harry is in the oven comment. Which may actually mean something. And destroy all my theories ahahah
