I completely agree with the first half of your comment and completely disagree with the second half of your comment. YouSeeBigGirl was the literal perfection for that scene and that's not a subjective opinion. The chosen soundtrack was awful and wasn't fit to the scene at all. Choosing a surprising, and heroic tone soundtrack in such a desperate, miserable moment before you commit war crimes and killing hundreds of innocent people is just a poor music choice. They might as well just put some Benny Hill music because why not.

Declaration of war is meant to be very sudden and terrifying. YSBG Has a long build-up and is specific to Reiner and Bertholdt, so that alone makes no sense to use for Eren. Nothing about what Eren did was "heroic". It would just feel really out of place.

It would had made way more sense had eren decided to retroactively kill his mom to assure the formation of his own character, plus to force his fathers stepping out of his inaction, than doing it to spare bertholt, so that armin could have the chance to live, whereas killing then and there would have turn dina instead and probably spare armins life too, indirectly. Causally wise the justification is dumb, and undermines everything for nothing. thematically and narratively wise, it’s no better: saving his friend didn’t resolved the conflict in play, whereas realizing that he wasn’t the chosen one in contrast with the serumbowl was part of the post time skip growth. In short, the itinerary elucidated by chapter 139 was a disgrace narratively and character wise. It only served to enforce the pacifist and the globalist agenda the alliance encompassed, that was way out of sync with the setting and the story in the first place.

So in the first timeline eren ran away with mikasa when they infiltrated marley (so before eren became the final season depressed version of himself) and when he died he goes to the second timeline which is the manga and in this time instead of going with mikasa's dumb plan he goes with armin's dumb plan and that leads to the manga ending resulting to him going to the third timeline which is the anime where he would go with his own plan. And slowly with each timeline he gets more and more depressed just like the protagonist of MuvLuv (the visual novel that inspired aot) where every time he reverts to the beginning of the story and be forced to make the hard decisions to ensure a good ending he gets more and more depressed as well (But hopefully the same way the manga which is the second timeline showed flashbacks to the first timeline through paths, the anime shows flashbacks to the second timeline of the manga so that people can consume the anime and the anime alone and be satisfied with the story)

Btw, here's a very interesting theory of mine :- -> So basically a leaker recently on Twitter confirmed that Season 4 Part 2 will end on Chapter 131. -> And also, quite a while back actually, the main singer from Shinsei Kamattechan (the Band that did the Season 2 ED "Yuugure no Tori", and Season 4 OP "My War") said that he thinks the Anime of the Final Season will have (in some form) 4 PARTS. -> So that means Part 1 = the 16 episodes that we just saw. Part 2 = upto Chapter 131 Part 3/Movie = 132-139 Part 4/Movie = Anime Original/Only Ending. This is the only logical way I can think of where both Manga Readers AND Anime Only viewers can be informed that there are 2 timelines taking place. What do you think?

Eren was always a monster when he killed those 3 men as a child and the millions he killed as an adult. he only revised his plans for his friends sake not humanity's. because the future he saw would always lead in failure but he still wished to try to succeed in wiping out humanity. but if he where to lose it would be done by his friends and make them heros. Eren is the villain in this story even if his pathetic outburst in the last chapter might get people angry because erens motives where always Childish and selfish because he refused to grow and thus became the monster in this story. Eren is a Tragic character and AoT is one of the best tragedies ever written. thats my view of it anyway.

So basically this Theory is that the Manga is the 1st half of the story and anime is the 2nd half (potentially, unless another cycle happens, then well really have AoT the final season part 83). Another thing to add to this is, remember at the reclaiming of Shiganshina when Riener was hit in the neck by Levi and he transferred his consciousness to his head. I never understood that until now, if the Theory is true, which I really hope it is, then Eren before Mikasa cuts off Erens head transfers his consciousness to his head like Riener did, then sometime around then is when manga Eren goes to young anime Eren and shows him everything that happened, like with Zeke, then that's when the anime starts, where the manga ends. The layers of this storytelling is crazy.

My theroy is eren and mikasa both will die after the rumbling alongside a lot of other main characters and armin will be the only one to survive . There is a big hint in the season 1 op 2 a scene where armin is covered with blood (possibly hinting that he may kill eren after the rumbling is done ) and below in the subtitles we see a pharse " even if i am the last one standing" also right after that a lot of candles are lit and as soon as armin's face comes up the candles all go out except one and armin is also the narrator which means all the events were written by him in his journal and that wont be possible if he dies

And now that this theory exists, everything has fallen into place. The attacking Titan designated Mikasa as another of his targets not by chance at all. He purposefully attacked her. On the additional pages, the tree under which Eren is buried looked peaceful and harmless. But when the Paradis was destroyed, the tree began to look very ominous. All of this is a really far stretch and most of your points can be debunked rather quickly. Also, I don’t think you understand how the attack titan’s power works. Eren can’t just send all of his memories back to himself, it doesn’t work that way. He can only send a selected amount of memories to past titan shifters. The shit that he knows about his future is because he had his future self send his own future memories to grisha. That way current anime eren would be able to view his future memories from grisha having received those memories from future eren

I think when eren wakes up in the manga, he is seeing the alternate universe in which mikasa's dream from ch 138 was a reality. that creates this timeline where he tramples the earth, which then he wakes up in the anime and starts a 3rd timeline in which we will see the anime original ending, or the ANR ending.

See I actually enjoyed the manga ending. By no stretch of the imagination was it perfect but I still thought it was good and I thought it made sense and you know it probably would’ve been very hard for isayama to create the perfect ending for such an amazing series that’s been going for quite a while. personally I really want to see it animated but I guess that’s the hard thing because it’s such a controversial ending whatever happens some people are going to be disappointed. If they do an anime original ending then the people who enjoyed the manga ending will be disappointed but if they stick with the source material then the people who didn’t like the ending will be disappointed. In my opinion they should finish the series with the mangas ending then create a movie with an anime original ending so viewers can decide for themselves which one they prefer.

Two major holes in this theory are. Eren doesn't need to heal since he is dead. Secondly even if he purposely decided to not takeaway HIS titan power it wouldn't matter since the titans powers would end with him, as he planned.

I think in near the end of the anime it’s going to reveal that the real and true power of the attack titan is to “break the cycle” or be reborn, then show how that this has happened many times before. Eren is the attack titan because he is it’s final user and the attack titan sends its memories and “will” back in time. The main goal of the attack titan is to break free/escape and because of that eren and the attack titan is in a time loop until eren has broken the cycle of violence or until eren is satisfied. This is because before his death he could just send his memories back in time with the hopes of changing the outcome of his life. This is also why there we’re a lot of things unswered in the manga. The manga is just supposed to be one of time lines eren has been through and to hint at the idea that this is not really “the end”. The anime is going to show the true ending of the story and will most likely be slightly longer to accomplish that. Like maybe an extra episode or just a long episode as the season finale.

Please do a Part 2 I'd like for you to go into certain things that don't make sense to me IF anime-Eren has memories of an alternate timeline: 1. It seems that's he's changing certain (future) scenes selectively, but others not at all. How come he let his mom die but wanted to change the outcome of his fight with Annie? How come he was still as shocked at the Reiner & Berthold-reveal? Perhaps future-Eren might be selectively sending visions to current-Eren just to manipulate him enough to change the outcome of the final war....? But still...Sasha died in both timelines, even though she was one of the friends that Eren said he wanted to live a long life 2. What do those birds actually mean? They're obviously central to your thesis but I don't know why they're important

This ending will never happen. It would be completely illogical, because the only time manipulation that can be done in the AOT universe is the « loop » where basically, when you send something to the past, it can never ever change the past, because it already happened. This allows for events to be their own cause ( like eren sending memories to past grisha which ensures eren eventually gets the founding titan so that he can send his memories. The events are all linked and the loop is unbreakable ). Eren using the founding titan to reset the timeline by sending different memories to his past self would go against that, because if he did send those memories, then that means they were always those memories, so nothing would change. Also, there are differences in the manga and anime because isayama added foreshadowing and modified dialogue to better fit his story, it’s not proof of anything.

I don’t think this is a separate timeline man. Lots of manga change things going into anime. Tokyo ghoul added a whole scene to the front, that was later added to the mangakas rewrite of the first chapter. Isayama has said the anime represents his vision better and is the “definitive” version of attack on titan. What’s more likely, that there’s two timelines or that Isayama wanted to add more direct foreshadowing that Eren wasn’t ever right in the head. Hell, I don’t even think Eren would care about Paradis being bombed 500 years later. The people he wanted to save had their freedom and lived their lives and he got to make his choice

There is a theory about black jacket kid Eren being manga Eren nd red jacket kid Eren being anime Eren.! Mappa, when they represented the scene with Eren mom getting eaten there are slight catches such as the way she is inserted into the titans mouth in season 1 episode 1 she is placed into the mouth before it bites down but in mappa’s new representation she is throw into the titans mouth being similar to the Manga.! Another change between manga nd anime is the Eren crying by the tree scene, in the manga he doesn’t wake up nd cry, he wakes up calm nd then cries while in the anime he wakes up in a panic in tears.!

This is a really interesting theory. I also thought of this but only from the season 4 part 2 opening. At the end it showed one of the colossal titans from the rumbling having stepped on a butterfly and it made me think of the butterfly effect. The theory of doing one small thing in the past and completely changing the future.

I know its probably common knowledge by now, but the butterfly being trampled could be foreshadowing to Mikasa dying, as she is often symbolized as a blue butterfly in the OVAs and Anime. The opening literally shows a blue butterfly being trampled... it cant be a coincidence

In the manga all the chapters are called chapter but the chapter with Annie fight is called episode. 134 - 139 it also says episode so just like isayama changed the Annie fight he will change those chapters.

I used to hope for an alternate ending, but after revisiting the ending and people’s thoughts I understand the ending more. I still think it’s fucking dumb and borderline insulting to the fans, but I understand why Yama decided to not change it and why it’s likely he had it planned since at least the start of the 4-year time skip. I have lost hope for a better ending and have resigned myself for the ending to remain as it is.

While I do think this would be a cool way to make an anime only ending IF they did (I don't really want them to) I will say it is implied that the timeline is deterministic and cannot be changed i.e. grisha ate the royal family because eren manipulated him to do so which is only possible if that always happens bc otherwise grisha would not have done it

If this is true and Isayama had planned all this from the beginning, then why was the manga ending written so poorly? I mean, if he planned everything that far out why did he say he looked for ideas online? Why did he mess up multiple character arcs? How does this time loop/timeline theory address the other themes in the story (ie getting the children out of the forest), how does it address the unanswered questions of Ymir’s perspective. How does Ymir play into the time loop/timeline? If Eren is doing all the looping/timeline jumping, why is the title of the ep 1 “to you 2000 years from now” (something that alludes to Ymir)? This is why I’m not fully convinced of the time loop/timelines theory. It just seems like an overly convoluted way to explain only half of the actual story. I could be wrong but I just need more than this. Ultimately if it’s true then the only one to explain it is Isayama. That is, if it’s true.
