While salt and pepper would definitely improve the sauces flavor, I believe she put too much cream in it because she also mentioned she didn’t want to throw away the rest of it. Since cream has a mild flavor, it probably diluted the chicken stock flavor. I feel like the gravy she made still needed to be simmered a bit too, especially to lose a lot of the water in the cream. I am happy to see Kay improve in her cooking :)

You're supposed to season every step of the way when cooking, so S&P all along the way. It helps if you make a blend of S&P and put it in a bowl and use it to season, that way you guarantee not using too much salt and/or pepper as every pinch will be the same. Also, the way her butter was boiling, and still after adding the stock, I can't believe she didn't curdle her cream.
@idontknow898

There was definitely too much cream, the sauce can't have much flavor when she diluted it that much (and it's worse than diluting it with water because cream has a... Thicker?... Flavor that can mask other things better

Okay. So I started watching Kay because of you guys. I've seen a crap ton of her videos now. Ufadpofa is what she calls her spatula. The person she was yelling at in the beginning, was herself. She's working the camera by herself these days. Washing meat is something left over from our grandparent's days. My grandma did it all the time, only because my grandparents owned a ranch so she grew her own veggies and they slaughtered their own animals. "Wild" or "free range" animals require that added touch on the home front. The reason why it's left over is because of the curing salts used for preservation, more so back then than now. Of course, using dish liquid or soap to "wash" the meat is outright dumb. Store bought meats have a different process of which they cure the meat. Which is supposed to be more thorough. Hence why the FDA says you don't need to do it.

I have seen people rinse off meat under a tap before to rinse off bit's of loose bone chips and excess blood but I think what they were asking about is people who literally wash chicken with dish soap. It's an actual thing look it up, for some bizarre reason African Americans like to wash meat with dish soap. I've no idea why or the origins of this practice and I've tried finding out but it something that is peculiar only in America and pretty much exclusively African Americans doing it. The USDA even have a page on their website telling people not to do it.

@@matthewhopkins666 no people are not talking about washing chicken with dish soap, no idea where you got that from, they're talking about rinsing it in the sink. You're not supposed to do it at all, you rinse out all the flavor with no benefit because the heat from the pan is what kills off the bacteria. The 2 most powerful disinfectants are the sun and fire, our grandparents were kinda dumb, a lot of them thought you couldn't flip a steak more than once thanks to some book that was written in the 1800s by some guy who didn't actually cook food but was great at selling books.

Kay is a good example of, “you don’t have to be good at something to enjoy it”. And I don’t mean that as a dig! When you start a hobby you’re probably not very good at it, but the point is to have fun and improve. You don’t have to start off perfect at something. Heck you don’t have to ever get good at something. So long as you’re enjoying yourself. Some people never even start something because they think they have to be good at it out the gate.

Ken I think Kay's cooking skills have progressed past your knowledge! She browned the outside of the chicken but the inside wasn't done, which is why she said all that about it being not fully cooked but fully cooked. She then put it in the sauce to finish. It's a fairly common technique to keep the chicken moist. I am a little bit skeptical of the sauce but the chicken itself probably would have been pretty good with some salt on it!

How does one add salted butter, garlic, honions, and parsley to chicken...cook the chicken 5 times while coated in 3 types of gravy....and still have that chicken turn out blander than Flanders? It's like a work of art! Not really something to eat, but something to admire how it got from point A to point B. I'm enthralled for the next video! lol

I don't wash already processed meat, but I have had to clean meat that wasn't processed before hand and of course I wash it, then (with water). I do wash all my veggies in water, lemon, and vinegar and scrub off any debris. I wash my rice, as well. What's NOT done enough is trimming. Just bc the cut has been processed doesn't meant it's ready to hit pan, trim that ish.
