I beat that story mode. I just didn't 100% it. Though now, idk how I even completed the story mode when I booted up the game again a month ago
@noahrice33624 ай бұрын
YES!!! I still come back to that game and it's story mode, plus all the individual events and party games. The only event I never really cared for was curling, simply because I sucked at it for no apparent reason. Curling Bowling on the other hand, was one of my favorites. And getting to go back in AFTER you beat the story mode for the first time and have NEW things to do? Plus just how awesome all the individual towns were? That game was truly special, and I still enjoy coming back to it.

DS version of Winter Olympics is probably the best in the series. -A full fledged single player campaign -Better Olympic events -Better Dream events -Amazing music -Better roster
@Marbilou8 ай бұрын
While London Olympics 2012 on the Wii was the best of the consoles games -Memorable Dream events -More Regular events which are pretty cool -The ability to customize your Miis and that each outfit gives different stats (which that returned from Winter Olympics Wii but with the twist of getting scratch cards everytime you play events) -A somewhat good party mode with fun minigames outside of events. -The return of Rival battles (still sucks you can't play as any of em) -And overhaul the game is better than the Beijing olympics with a different charm.

To answer your question about what Skill characters specialize in, they make certain skill-based events or actions take less effort to execute. For example, in Trampoline they require less inputs and in Skeet and Archery, they have much larger crosshairs and accuracy, making it easier to shoot discs and arrows respectively.

The thing is (I’m commenting as I watch) Bowser and Eggman did team up in the DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic winter games’s story mode.

I can never be mad at these games. While a crossover platformer with good gameplay would be amazing, this is how I got into the Sonic series. I played the Beijing game at my cousins, my mom got us the Vancouver game, I played Secret Rings afterwards, and now it's one of my favorite series

I believe this is the only Mario & Sonic game with the Sonic 1 & 2 music. Sega doesn't own the rights, so even with them recycling Green Hill the location, they only use the theme on special occasions.

The DS version focuses more on the dream events, and the controls are a lot more accurate since they generally use more buttons and the touch screen

Innit man. I still have that game ever since I got in 2018. I did first play it in 2014 or 15 tho I think and it became my favourite in the series. It just brings good memories. Not to mention that it introduced the UK's (my country's) most popular sport: football. It's so fun.

They went so hard with the CG intros of the first three Olympics games, especially the one for the Winter game. They were done by the same studio (Marza Animation Planet) that did the pre-rendered cutscenes for a lot of the late-2000s Sonic games from Shadow '05-onward. They were in top form with the raw splendor they conveyed through the cinematography combined with the music that went all out as if they were hyping up a real world-class sporting event. The Winter game's OST in the menus is peak Christmas vibes too.

Waluigi/Wario main here. Skill/Technique is very broad but the gist is that those characters are better at more intricate stuff like timing, precision, aim, handling, rhythm, etc. For example, they have a much better crosshair in archery.

I remember first playing the London 2012 Wii version in 2013 and still today over 10 years, still is a game I love, it's a great party game first and foremost, but the crossover aspect is delightful, London Party is so much fun, the Dream Events are phenomenal, the game has so much content to unlock like the music and Mii Costumes, the Challenges list and the quality of the events and music, that I keep coming back at very least once a year nowadays, it's truly a masterpiece. I also loved the Vancouver 2010 Wii and DS versions, specially the former for the awesome Adventure Mode. I know Mario & Sonic post London, were lackluster and such, but I still hoped the series didn't end, because I know Sega could deliver a great Mario & Sonic Olympic Game if they put effort to it, but it seems now that a return is not gonna happen, since Paris 2024 is just 2 months away, and thats a shame. But hey, if they are done with the Olympics for real, can they make an RPG then next? The Adventure Mode is kinda like one, so there is potential to be had at the very least.

My first crossover game i ever enjoyed playing was Mario And Sonic At The Olympic Winter Games back in 2010 when my Mom first rented it when she used to work for Blockbuster. DS version has a mission mode where the final mission is a rival battle like: Shadow VS Luigi Peach VS Amy Wario VS Knuckles Sonic VS Mario Waluigi VS ...Dr Eggman somehow instead of Bowser which is kinda strange (i'm pretty sure his rival was Eggman, but I could be misremembering it) the DS version also have events not present in the Wii version of the game like 10 meter platform which did return to the Tokyo version of the game under the game's retro mode Dream Long Jump Dream Shooting and Dream Basketball tho multiplayer in that version works much better if both own a copy of the game as the download mode is very limited in comparison - somehow Miis got left out in the Tokyo edition tho they weren't in the DS version either, but there it makes sense as the Nintendo DS doesn't have a Mii Maker

No, Sega and Sonic still exist exclusively because of the strength of Sonic's character design and overall IP. As Arin Hanson once said: "There's a lot of mascots stuck in a limbo bacause of one failed title like Banjo-Kazooie, there's just something about Sonic's eyes that appeals to people."

Its just a glorified Mario sports game instead. :(
