Thank you Karl, great video as always and obviously no complaints from me :D I was wondering if it was time to give up doom speedrunning some months ago around the release of doom eternal. But, recently I have found new motivation to keep working on doing faster and better runs, and this defintely won't hurt my motviation to keep speedrunning. So perhaps the best has yet to come :) Thanks to anyone who watched this!

I just started watching Decino decimate Doom’s demons recently and am not that up-to-speed in the Doom community; but I also think that Decino posted a new world record for Doom 2 recently by Looper (17:55). I may be incorrect and don’t want to knock Zero Master’s incredible skills or knowledge of Doom (let alone his record that affords him such credibility) but I think that his Doom 2 record was just recently knocked down. I wonder if he will battle to get it back 😆. Here was the video Decino linked: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqWWYoOOoJyHlbM

I would say if you've ever played an FPS then you've pretty much played Doom. It's hard to find an FPS that isn't somehow related to Doom in gameplay or inspiration. It's amazing how well Doom holds up even today when you play with a mouse. GZDoom elevates it even higher.
@chloewebb5526
@chloewebb5526 Жыл бұрын
While the old games like Doom, Marathon, Duke Nukem, Blood, and Strife all brought concepts to the table that are still used, games have changed drastically. Playing something like Hedon, Dusk, or Ashes 2063 are wildly different FPS than most modern games of the last 20 years. I can't overstate just how different the experience is, and how much funner they can be than the slow realism of every game that comes out lately. It was fun to be 10 in 1995, get a PC and watch how realistic FPS games got over the years, but after living through the age of evolving games (1995-2005), I find games these days all feeling like reskins with maybe one tiny new idea, or minimal changes. Seeing what indie developers are doing with older concepts have been showing me new forks from FPS history that never happened and ideas hat were never expanded on because studios were too busy trying to make FPS games more real instead of more fun

All hail Zero Master! I love to see someone so dedicated and true to something, especially when it is my common interest. Doom 3: BFG Edition is a really nice speedgame as well. You guys are missing out. Especially Nightmare Any%. There is just something special about it in how thorough you need to be. It has good movement tech including strafe jumping and various kinds of rocketjumping, smart and accurate gun play and the soul cube routing makes it tight and challenging. I would love to see new runners and I am always happy to teach everyone everything I learned. I did not expect to see myself in this video so you can imagine my surprise. This. Mastering both classic Doom and the new Doom is one task that only the best of the best can achieve, and he's pretty much the only one to do so with absolute grace. But not only is Zero Master ultra good at the games, he's also a pillar of the community; He created, alongisde Kraflab, the new page of the Doom Speed Demos Archive, the biggest repository of Doom gameplay history. I know your channel is mostly based on "Serious speedruns" but as a little side project to be cool if you could highlight Charities like Games Done Quick and their players like goatnoates and how amazing their skill is and things like super metroid or Super Metroid Kaizo I've been really enjoying watching those lately. *edit* Wow foot in my mouth you literally mentioned them in this video

You were the second speedrunning channel I ever found (last year only). Thank you for introducing me to doom. I only started playing last week, and I'm so glad I got into it. Your hangar video was very instructive, too. Thats pretty much the video that really got me interested in speedrunning. Now I have a 9.91 on hangar ready to be verified hopefully :)

@@timewave02012 It's mostly gen X and gen Y. The millennials were literally infants, or yet to be born, when the original (good ones) came out. But honestly, you can't call yourself a "gamer" if you don't love Doom. Even zero master is right on the cusp (a few years older than a millennial), so there's no reason the younger generations can't enjoy an actual good game. Same reason people like Kosmic's age run SMB1. They are actually good games with good challenges. Millennials ('95-'05 birth years) are just too stubborn to like good things.

Excellent video! I'm glad to see this demi-god's accomplishments get more love! I remember a long time ago I managed to coax Zero Master into doing competitive Overwatch. We played until we were just on the cusp of Diamond, but I'd given up on it because the toxicity levels were too high and I couldn't be bothered dealing with it. Zero Master however just continued on and let me know he apparently got himself to top 500 like an absolute chad. His favorite character to play was Soldier 76 if anyone was curious. Can't even begin to imagine the amount of shit that community gave him for one tricking lmao

In the end I did think you’d say Zero tho because of his speedrunning and immense versatility, whereas clockner is not a speedrunner but more of a player who is so skilled that he can complete levels in the most fascinating ways possible, because of his insane imagination. Anyway, great video once again, I’m not sure how I missed it until now but better late than never lol
