I remember one episode of Pointless, there was a question about ABBA songs that had 1-2 words in their title. (This information is important in a moment) I said “Super Trooper” as it had 2 words, remember that the question had mentioned that the song title had to have 1-2 words in it? Here lies the issue, my dad told me that I was wrong because he thought that “Super Trooper” was all one word! I told him “no I’m right as it has to be 1-2 words. Not 1.” The argument goes back and forth for a few moments with me getting angrier every minute. I then yell “IT’S TWO WORDS NOT ONE!” After that round was over and the presenters were reviewing the answers it turned out that I was right and my dad was wrong! I still rub it in his face to this day.

@@Buggaton Americans have heard of Yamamoto because he both directed the attack on Pearl Harbor, and led the Japanese side during the Battle of Midway. I'm not sure how much emphasis a British education places on the Pacific theater in WW2, but if they teach anything at all about it, they would simply have to cover both of those events, so Yamamoto's name would inevitably come up.
@Buggaton11 ай бұрын
@@NYKevin100 In answer to the question of how much the UK education system teaches the Pacific theatre, I'd have to say absolutely none. I never learned about it. It was all Battle of Britain and D-Day and all the flashy stuff that made us look good, not any of the horrible shit in the Pacific or the Eastern Front. My grandfather flew a Spitfire in the Pacific too and yet... I learned nothing of it. To me when I think of Yamamoto I think of the West Wing episode and clip "We killed Yamamoto" where they hilariously get the Battle of Agincourt incredibly wrong! The BBC have always given shitty prizes. Remember the Blankety Blank Cheque Book and Pen. The Beeb always put the emphasis on entertainment value rather than the value of prizes in all their gameshows. There was one slight exception though and that was the Generation Game. As well as the regulation Fondue set and CUDDLY TOY! that did have some reasonable prizes, especially when you consider the years that it was on. As I recall, even if the contestant was pretty hopeless at remembering the items on the conveyor belt, then Bruce would give them help, to make sure that they at least had several items.
@brandonmartin-moore53023 жыл бұрын
And this isn't even that bad. Contestants get 2 (or 3 since 2020) shots at a jackpot that has been know beyond £10,000 or as high at £24,750 on the old endgame.

In the Danish show (That’s on it’s 3rd season right now) the prizes are bigger. The first winner from 2019 won 60,000 kroner (the same as 6,850 pounds).
