BEM GANG IKR! people tell me all the time that the 800m is just you jogging! And I cannot stress enough how tough of a. Race it truly is! Not only are you carrying the lactic acid from the first lap, but you have to sprint the last 200m! And it hurts so bad! The 800m training is rough too, you basically train for everything! Endurance, speed, mileage, and weight training!
@jenax97515 жыл бұрын
im 12 and i completed it in 3 mins 36 seconds. it really shouldnt be that difficult if you just enjoy racing in general. i domt even train
@BEMGANG5 жыл бұрын
Rae Marie in high school my PR was 1:56.8 in the 800 & 48.1 in the 400. I can truly say that it was more painful running the 800 over the 400 and that was back in 2006. Like you mention, lactic acid building up and the push at the end that is basically arm strength getting you through the race when your legs feel numb. The 400 is great also but is simple at sprint turn, coast to last 250 then all out. The 800 that’s more thought than that. Still my most favorite race even though it’s not hyped like shorter races. And higher levels make the 800 a full out sprint when sub 1:52 down to 1:40s

@bombbrain18 жыл бұрын
+Rrr Ccc I think he's talking about when Drew kinda cut in front of Lomong around 0:54
@carrjeep75388 жыл бұрын
bombbrain1 at 1:49 when they are running the final stretch the leader takes a quick look behind him and then starts drifting to his right out of lane 1 and blocks the runner/s from passing in lane 2. One of the runners uses this as an opportunity to try to pass on the inside and the other runner is forced to stray further right to pass.

One of the craziest parts of this video in my opinion is that none of these guys have gone on to run a time faster than they did in this race. It’s as if they peaked in this moment. Now don’t get me wrong, they have been successful in running still to this day, but I believe these times still stand as all of their PRs for the 800... which in my opinion is just crazy.

to put this into perspective on a world stage nigel amos ran 1:41.73 at London Olympics at 18yrs 147days. McGorty is 17 years 73 days when he runs this (meet date 07.05.2016. Best time run by a 17 year old in the UK as far as I can find is 1:47.5. if he can balance his pace a bit more he'll certainly run very fast.
