Richard's whole story just makes me sad, it's clear he probably wasn't a good person from the start but thinking about how he started the mod so he could enjoy the time spent with his kid who he probably doesn't even see anymore imo (i have no sources just a hunch) to him falling into a downward spiral and getting worse and worse, i do still hope he will become a better person and detach himself from the internet completely but I know it's almost impossible that it will happen. It's not impossible, there's some people that have managed to get out of that crazy spiral, but it's hard, especially considering the very likely possibility that his son doesn't talk to him anymore, he's an old lonely man who tries to find a reasoning and somewhere or someone to blame for that happening and, as many others, ends up in crazy conspiracy theories and conservative politics, it's sadly very common and I've had to see it happen to family more than once, including my own mother with shit like "Vaccines cause autism" but thankfully I managed to snap her out of it before she got in too deep I'm not saying they weren't there before, but I can't see the guy that made orespawn for his son doing the "white boy" rant and still publishing it, still I wish he somehow manages to escape that spiral, it's sad to see someone like that

As an avid modded minecraft player, I can't see ore spawn even being a close to interesting mod nowadays. I was 12 in 2014 and loved ore spawn but that's because modded minecraft sucked. The best mods just don't hold a dime to the amazing stuff modded developers release these days. Sure it might bait a few kids to watching a KZbin video but 99% of the modded community have moved on to actual well-made stuff.

From what I know, a good way of downloading the original orespawn mod is by downloading it via the wayback machine. That's how I got the 1.7.10 version of it at least.

Ore respawn really wasn't a good mod, horrid hitboxes, stupid damage scaling with nonsense mechanics, and dimensions filled with crap that would cause ungodly amounts of lag. The most creative mob behavior in the entire thing despite the fact it added dozens of them, was a worm that could dig. I've made several worlds where I played that mod when I was younger (most times because I'd play on modpacks I've either downloaded or made myself, and I could only put up with it as far as before orespawn progression started picking up) and it actually got me burnt out of the game. I've played worlds for years before then, after a time I finally gave up on it and went on to play without orespawn and for the first time I've actually had a decent amount of fun while playing.. The mob designs were cool for the time, and the high amount of damage and so on really did work to hype itself up so it really made sense it was as popular as it got when it comes to content creation, but when it comes to how good the mod was compared with mods from even before 1.5, much less 1.7.10 or current, it is the farthest thing from "best", it's just downright fucking awful.

I switched to Firefox from Opera GX cuz of a weird bug with YT I couldn't solve... And honestly, Firefox is great, but Opera GX is better for sure in terms of features NGL, though IG Firefox feels more optimized too, but I miss some stuff from Opera GX lol For example, you can't rebind keys... Which is like, the most basic feature ever and Firefox somehow lacks it, wtf.
